If a member of Marxist Professorial Sinecureate gives a Last Lecture shouldn't such a one have the decency to? by friend to all Q:

A: Not to pass gas in public, pick their noses or eat their food with their mouths open? Yes! This is correct. A person like this should have the common decency to not do these things. Unfortunately, most members of a Marxist Professorial Sinecureate that give the Last Lectures always, as a rule, fart in public, pick their nose and tend to eat with their mouths open? It's a main reason why I prefer not to associate with them.

Missed a college class; ask professor last lecture? by Q: I started my first semester of college a few weeks ago, and last tuesday I was really sick, and I ended up sleeping at home. I have never missed a class before and so my question is: If there is no website (yet) for the class, is it rude to ask the professor before/after class what I missed, or should I find a classmate (i dont know anyone. =/) and ask them? Thanks!

A: You should explain your absence, first. Then ask if he will go over missed material during office hours or would he prefer you get the notes from another student. Every instructor is different. I like to sit down with my absentee students to ensure their success. Others do not like to rewind. It will also depend on the material covered.

need help for a last lecture english project? by iloveyou Q: okay, so i need to make a board filled with pictures of who influenced me and the members in my group. and on this board, my english teacher says i need to make it unique. this board goes along side a speech i have to prepare for the class which everyone else has to do for approximately 5 minutes. any ideas on what i could put on my board or any suggestions on how i could make it unique?

A: So two BIG face sillouettes (your face), one facing left, one facing right. One is "black", the other "white". Both are composed of small photos organized to fill out the outline of the face. These small photos will be of what influenced you. ~~~~~ my wife once made a collage about her life and friends and family; she used tree bark, burlap, rusted bottle caps, bits of wire and other found items (bones, feathers, etc) and a mix of scetches, and parts of photos (one of her cat maggie mae another part of a baby picture of one of her children and another of herself), the photos are small and hard to see in the jungle of the rest of the collage, but they are there...the whole thing is in a shadow box of barn wood from the sheep shed that was on the iowa farm onwhich she was raised. it is really quite attractive, and truly a work of art...and any psycholygist would have a hayday with it...because it is so her persona. Make it out of stuff you like! Maybe members of your group in a picture like this: (as the background board) http://quadsearch.csd.auth.gr/isearch.php?lan=1&sd=0&tos=4&v=2&m=1&frop=1&query=sillouettes&Gch=1&Ych=1&Mch=1&Ach=1&ResPerPage=12&as=0&i=7&ims=0 http://quadsearch.csd.auth.gr/isearch.php?lan=1&sd=0&tos=4&v=2&m=1&frop=1&query=sillouettes&Gch=1&Ych=1&Mch=1&Ach=1&ResPerPage=12&as=0&i=8&ims=0 http://quadsearch.csd.auth.gr/isearch.php?lan=1&sd=0&tos=4&v=2&m=1&frop=1&query=sillouettes&Gch=1&Ych=1&Mch=1&Ach=1&ResPerPage=12&as=0&i=11&ims=0 http://morewaystowastetime.blogspot.com/2007/11/how-to-make-silhouette-portraits.html

Where can I download The Last Lecture? by amiboo Q: I can find tons of places to watch it and I found a transcript of it that I could save but I have a friend that doesn't have internet and I'd like to take a copy of this to him. I do not have Kindle. Video or Audio - either is fine

A: official site http://www.thelastlecture.com/aboutbk.htm book used http://www.amazon.com/Last-Lecture-Randy-Pausch/dp/1401323251/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1208612094&sr=8-1

Will you offer critique on my poem inspired by Jeff and the book "The Last Lecture"? by sher Q: I bought the book, just finished it, loved it...it (and Jeff's posting earlier) inspired this: We are but transitory riders on the eternal carousel of time. Fleeting from moment to moment in the blurred ethereal scenery. An eloquent reminder of its worth, is the legacy of those moved forth. Every minute not used is wasted, for it retaliates with disappearance.

A: There are several stilted phrases in the first stanza, and piling them, one atop the other, weakens the impact for me. But the last line alone makes this poem work so well.

Is the book "The Last Lecture" just the lecture in book form? by Matt Q: I'm doing a book report on this book but i watched the video of the actual lecture already.

A: Google lists 3,640,000 hits for this topic. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=VUG&q=the+last+lecture+book&btnG=Search&aq=f&oq=&aqi= I suggest that any work with that much interest to that many people would justify reading the book as well as seeing the video.

Is the book The Last Lecture, by Randy Pausch a memoir? by Amy B Q: I have to take a memoir tomorrow for my english class and was wondering if this book would work.

A: From the guide to the book: The Last Lecture is a memoir, a celebration of life, and a testament to the power of childhood dreams. But it is also, perhaps most of all, a book of lessons.

What is the Last Lecture by Randy Pausch about? by inlovewithlizaminnelli Q: I've heard a lot about it in the past few months, but i haven't had time to go to the library or barnes & nobles. is it a religious book, an autobiography etc. and should i really read it? i mean, it had excellent reviews and everything, but i want your opinion. thanks buddy's =)

A: YES YES YES. I taped it on my TIVO and have kept it to watch again. Randy found out he was about to die with cancer. He was a professor. He gave his last lecture in 2007. He passed away last week. The lecture is one of the most inspiring you'll ever hear. You can watch it online. See reference for links.

how did the last lecture positively change the world? by Sam Q: help me!!!oh and how is randy pausch a high moral character? the last lecture is a book by Randy Pausch

What is on the Brickwall in the Last Lecture by Randy Pausch? by Q: Can you explain what is on the brick wall? Explain and give Examples.. i need help,, thx :)

A: A brick wall is something that stops you in your tracks, that you have to try hard to overcome. Although he graduated magna cum laude from Brown University, he nearly didn't get in to Brown in the first place -- he was wait listed. It was a brick wall that some might have walked away from. But Pausch had a novel way of looking at obstacles: "The brick walls are there for a reason," he said during his lecture. "The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something." He kept calling the college until it let him in. Pausch maintained that his most formidable brick wall was a beautiful graduate student named Jai Glasgow. Pausch was 37, with a reputation as something of a ladies' man, when he met her at a lecture. Pausch was smitten, but she resisted. However, he refused to give up, and they eventually married and had three children. http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/randy-pausch-lecture-professor-dies/story?id=4614281&page=2

Has anybody read The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch? by JennyH Q: I am reading the book right now, and almost done. I think this man has made me look at life in such a different way, and it does make sense to stay positive through out life and not to sweat the small stuff. Did anybody feel the same way? What was your opinion on the book. I thought it was phenominal! Does anybody know if he has written any other books?

A: Randy Pausch was an amazing man. The Last Lecture is his only book, but he did collaborate on a book called Learning To Program with Alice. That's a tech-y book though about the 3D computer application. If you haven't yet, check out his last speaking engagement called "Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" on YouTube. It's had almost 6.5 million hits. He's brilliant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo

Is Randy Pausch's The Last Lecture considered an autobiography? Can you explain why? by hdays2 Q: I need to know officially for something important. To clarify, "The Last Lecture" refers to the title of the book, not of the event..

A: I would think it's a memoir because it tells about different stories from his life, and not exactly about him... Hope this helps :)

For people who have read the last lecture by randy pausch? by Bella S Q: When did randy die? is his wife remarried? is his wife dating? How old was he when he died?

A: He died last year and no she is not dating.

i need help on a last lecture speech for English? by iloveyou Q: okay, so i have to type a last lecture speech under the topic of "who influenced/inspired you" any suggestions on how i should start it?

A: Don't use someone famous, it’s such a cliché, I bet they know all about someone famous and your judicator will just get peed off, use someone who had an influence in your life, such as mother, brother, dog, the cat, as an example, someone who was or is close to you. And make it personal, like the first time you learnt to ride a bike, or how your brother drove the car off the road, as an example. Make it as personal as possible and show it left a mark on your life. I'm a public speaker in school and know from experience. ~Leah~

Two different versions of The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch? by delilah Q: One is more expensive than the other. What is the difference? http://www.borders.com/online/store/SearchResults?keyword=the last lecture&type=0&simple=1 It is the first and third result.

A: The more expensive version with about 80 something more pages is the LARGE PRINT version. So just purchase the one for about $13.17. If you're looking to save money, just read the original Last Lecture transcript online. The book is not that much different than the lecture itself and provides a little more back story. Also watch Pausch's Time Management lecture and/or read the transcript. I would suggest getting the book from the library, it's a quick read. However, the book makes a wonderful graduation, birthday or Christmas gift.

what site can i read the last lecture by randy pausch online? by Q: i've been searching for an hour and the bookstores are out of stock!

A: The reason that you can't find it is that, as a recent book, it is under copyright protection. Unless the publisher, or whoever is running the author's estate, puts it online somewhere for free, or your local library has an e-book version available for download, you are probably out of luck. If your library does not have a paper copy, try getting it from another library through inter-library loan.

What do you think about "The Last Lecture" by Dr Randy Pausch? by Bi Q: I was extremely impressed with his seminar and was motivated to follow my dreams. I wanna write a paper about his last lecture so I want some opinions. 1) What do you think are the main points presented in the lecture? 2) In what way was the presentation in an effective or ineffective speech? and 3) What are the important lessons that you have learned from the speech that can be applied in your life? I would really appreciate it if i can get some opinions. Please and thank you.

A: 1. Perseverance, optimism, and creativity are necessary for success. 2. It was effective in that he provided examples from his own life, challenged and inspired his audience, and left them with a positive impression. 3. When faced with obstacles, there is always a way around them. Adversity is a chance to grow as an individual. A positive outlook will help you through even the toughest times.

What do you think about The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch? by pavanebo96 Q: If you have read this book I would like to know what you thought about it. My english class is reading this book right now and I want to know what happens. I know he died of Cancer.

A: OH MY GOODNESS. I just saw the Last Lecture by him from last year. It is the most inspiring speech I've ever EVER heard. Please read it. I plan on buying his book really soon. REALLY SOON. I'm so glad your school is reading that!!!!! You'll learn so much. He was truly an amazing man. Watch the lecture. It's engaging throughout the entire speech.

Is the video of the last lecture any different from the book? by Kenzie Q: is the video of randy pausch giving the last lecture different from the book a lot? i have to read it for sschool and was wondering if it would be ok just to watch the video or if the book had more significant things in it other than just the lecture...?

A: The Last Lecture explained Pausch's speech, and the events that led up to it. According to Robert Miller, a publisher for Hyperion Books, the book would "flesh out his speech" and show others "how to deal with mortality" and how to live well while death is imminent just watching the video risks missing out the explanation and background possibly making it obvious to your teacher that your havent read it

what is the theme of the book the Last Lecture by Randy Pausch? by skipper Q: What is the theme of this book? and could you explain it please. Is it achieving your childhood dreams?

A: you have it spot on see this article for more help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Lecture

What songs could I put with The Last Lecture book for a project? by Avangaline Q: I need to do a project and i need songs that relate to the book!

A: There's a couple of country songs that would work for that book. I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RV-Z1YwaOiw My Wish by Rascal Flats http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_zi4OxJpY0 Kind of sappy, but the Disney song A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhTjnzlcIeI&feature=related

what is the theme of the last lecture by randy pausch? by Maximum Ride Q: I have to write a report about it... i think it is just to follow you childhood dreams and dream big and never give up..and stuff like that. anyone have anything more to add? anything different?

A: I did the same thing and just said Inspiration. Hope that helps?

What's a good book like "The Last Lecture" or "Deadline?"? by tsn22392 Q: I really like books like the "Last Lecture" and "Deadline" but I don't know anymore books like them. Does anyone have any good books with that kind of storyline?

A: I think you might like: The Woods by Harlan Coben Dead Man's Footsteps by Peter James

Where can I find the entire original last lecture done by Randy Pausch? by Q: It touched me so deeply. I wish him and his family the best.He has given me a new insight on death and dying. What did you think of his lecture?

A: Randy Pausch: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams Randy Pausch with his children. "Almost all of us have childhood dreams; for example, being an astronaut, or making movies or video games for a living. Sadly, most people don’t achieve theirs, and I think that’s a shame. I had several specific childhood dreams, and I’ve actually achieved most of them. More importantly, I have found ways, in particular the creation (with Don Marinelli), of CMU’s Entertainment Technology Center of helping many young people actually *achieve* their childhood dreams." - Randy Pausch Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch, who is dying from pancreatic cancer, gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving talk, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals. Pausch, a professor of computer science, human computer interaction and design, is a co-founder of Carnegie Mellon’s Entertainment Technology Center and the creator of the Alice interactive computing program, which is being used by students worldwide.

What would randy pausch (last lecture) put in a scrap book for his kids? by suppariley91 Q: ok im doing this project with a scrapbook and i need to noe wat would randy pausch (from the last lecture) put in a scrap book so can anyone help me ?

A: If you look through the book, you'll have the answer. Pausch, who stated that he undertook the project specifically for his children, has added a number of photos, and if I remember correctly, some other memorabilia. I would imagine that he would have added his report cards and teacher comments, and some of his drawings and musings. Pausch was highly imaginative and supposedly given to doodling and scribbling his ideas.

What other books are out there that are like The Last Lecture? by Q: I've been reading more inspiring and thought-provoking books lately and I was wondering if there are anymore books out there that you guys know that are like The Last Lecture, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, and Tuesdays with Morrie.

A: Try books by Richard Paul Evans and David Gregory,

Should I read The Last Lecture for summer reading? by Fleur Q: I'm a rising sophomore in high school, and I have to read a nonfiction book for summer reading. What did you guys think of The Last Lecture? I know what it's about, but I haven't looked at the book or SparkNotes or anything, so please don't give me a ton of spoilers, just a general opinion of how it was.

A: It was really good, i enjoyed it definitely a very sad story though. It has some good words of wisdom though and kind of makes you look at life in a different way. another non-fiction book i would recommend is the glass castle which is a memoir by Jeanette Walls. It's about her life and the really dysfunctional family she grew up in. It's really witty and i couldn't put it down because this family is just so offbeat. It reads more like a book then a memoir too which i prefer. hope that helps

How did the last lecture impact your thinking? by Sam Q: The last lecture by randy pausch i need help can u explain how it changed you thinking??? plz!!!!! hs student resorses would be great thanks and yes im doing a school project

A: What poor answers. -.- I loved it and it taught me to really appreciate life. My favorite example is halfway in the book where Randy mentions pouring soda on his new car to prove to his nephews that he doesn't care about the car as much as his sister emphasizes (because it's new). I just grinned at hearing that he destroyed his new seats to prove a point. Are you doing a report for school? I have some resources on him and am a big fan.

if your were writing your own last lecture what subjects would you include? by over the edge. Q: I have to write a last lecture for my ap english class. We were told to read the last lecture then write our own. I'm not sure how they expect us to do that. We are young still and have yet to achieve our childhood dreams or a whole life's worth of lessons. So what should I include?

A: I would simply write it on something I can use in conversation since I am a conversation ESL teacher. I would write something like this: The hustle and bustle of the crowd reminds me of ants scurrying to harvest food for the winter. People walk in every direction as if they have some place to go. Others sit and wait, for their journey has not yet begun. They sit staring at this and that. Many have removed their shoes to relieve the steamy hot feet which are now exhausted from the day's constant on the move walking. Lovers embrace as they set to part company. A young girl fans herself from the humid heat that the day has brung (brought). Text messages by the dozens are being hammered out and the loud speaker announces it is time for the next wave of passengers to go to the platform. I would then ask students at various points in time what the lines mean to them, and then as a whole.

How does the last lecture relate to psychology? by jennaysaywhat Q: I was wondering how the last lecture relate to psychology.

A: You have the information and the knowledge; now it is your turn to find the connections!!!
