Quotes comparing The Rolling Stones to The Beatles? by Mopar Man Q: I once heard a quote that compares the Rolling Stones to The beatles. It basically stated that the Stones were bad boys compared to the Beatles. Does anyone know what it is?

A: “Paul really loved the Beatles. If he'd loved the Rolling Stones it would have been different. The Beatles was all about youth and getting it done by the age of 25. The Rolling Stones are based on the blues ... and getting better as they got older.” - John Clifforth “The girls should decide now to call it a day, ... Consider: The Beatles are forever the superior of the Rolling Stones because they split.” - Daily Express “chefs with three Michelin stars were the culinary equivalent of the Beatles or Rolling Stones -- they were sorcerers.” - Tim Ryan “In the golden era of the 60s, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones dominated the American charts.” - Ricky Wilson “Rolling Stones, Beatles, we gave them all the break they were looking for. All they needed was a good opening act, and we went out there and performed as well as we could... over 15,000 kids chanting.” - Bobby Hatfield “We idolized the Beatles, except for those of us who idolized the Rolling Stones, who in those days still had many of their original teeth.” - Dave Barry

However, I hadn't actually heard of the album before and I was just wondering if it was a good choice. So, what do you think of it? BQ: Most underrated Rolling Stones album, in your opinion? BQ2: Favourite cover of a Jimi Hendrix song?

A: It's not great in my opinion, it's an exploitation album released for the American market, containing singles, album tracks and outtakes. Granted there's some good tracks but there's also 'My Girl'?!? BQ: Tattoo You BQ2: Little Wing - Stevie Ray Vaughn

The Best Beatles or Rolling Stones songs of all time? by Q: I'm bored so here we go. Totally all opinion. A: Why not a Rolling Stones song that featured John Lennon and Paul McCartney on backing vocals? "We Love You" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HKtPjcw7Sg&feature=related The video is kind of sad. I went to rollingstones.com but found nothing to do with magazine subscriptions, is there another website or something I need to go to?

A: if they have a number or something, you should call them. if not, why not donate them to somebody? like a libation or a school or some place so people have something to read. or sell them, maybe you'll make some money?

Where can I get a Rolling Stones magazine cover resized to a poster? Like 2ft by 4ft? by simply_college Q: I want to get a couple of rolling stones magazine cover blown up to the size of a standard poster. But I want them to look good! Where is a crediable place to get this done and about how much do you think they would cost. I know several places are going to be different prices but if you had ot guestimate, what would you think? Thanks

A: Aside from the legality of copying such images, you arent going to get a quality image unless you stand a ways back from the poster. An image printed with a offset press is quite unlike a photograph which is continuous tone. What do I mean by this? Take a magnifying glass and look at the cover of your rolling stones magazine and then take a look at a photo. The magazine is made up of overlapping layers which create rosettes. When you blow up the magazine cover this will be more pronounced, so what you will have to do is blur the image in photoshop otherwise you will end up with a really ugly looking image.

Does Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones sound like an amazing Country Song? by Zappa Fan Q: I love when the Rolling Stones dabble in Country. They were clearly influenced by it, and they pull off the songs with a deep respect for the form. Even their caricatures are pulled off with a mastery that reveals the beauty of the form. BQ: What are some other Country influenced Rolling Stones songs?

A: I always think more of their blues-influenced songs, but I will agree with you about Wild Horses. It's a wonderful song and one of my favorites. BA: "Honky Tonk Women" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP5c2t945p8 I read that they originally thought of doing it as an acoustic, country song. Then they did this version on Let It Bleed. "Country Honk" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVEdYYMlOJ4&feature=fvw "Far Away Eyes" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8dwWYBa1i4

What were girl's hair styles during the "Rolling Stones" era? by Jennifer Q: My school competes in a dance/skit during a huge basketball tournament every year. This year the theme is Rolling Stones. I have hair slightly past my shoulders, but google isn't helping much on "rock" hair for the Stone's time period.

A: I was 15 when the Stones did " Satisfaction " circa '64. You could google the name " Twiggy " ( A/K/A Leslie Hornsby ) who was a top model than. Many girls then ( including one of my girlfriends ) used to have long straight hair parted down the middle and to make it straighter; they used to iron it. If you google " Peter, Paul & Mary " .....Lots of women had hair like her ( Mary ) and my girlfriend was a much prettier blonde than Mary was.

A: Sounds like Plundered Soul. The vid starts with the exile on Main Street cover and moves on from there.

I like the song heavan by the rolling stones, what other stones songs would I like? by Q: I've listened to a few songs by the rolling stones and I dont like very many of them but I like Heavan, what other songs have a similar sound?

A: If you like Heaven you'll probably like the rest of Tattoo You (the album Heaven is on), especially the second half. Some Girls, Emotional Rescue and Steel Wheels are other great Stones albums that you should check out if you like Heaven. If you want to get into their other stuff (which is amazing), check out Hot Rocks and Forty Licks as a starting point. Particular songs you will like by the Stones: "Waiting on a Friend", "No Use in Crying", "Worried About You", "Tops", "Beast of Burden", "Miss You", "Almost Hear You Sigh", "Wild Horses", "All About You", "Emotional Rescue", "You Cant Always Get What You Want" and "Angie".

What do people really see in the Rolling Stones? by Me Also Q: I'm not a big fan of the Rolling Stones, but I can see why they were popular. Honestly though, I can't see why they ARE popular. They seem like the typical 60's or 70's band, but my question basically is why are they timeless? I see the lyrical value of the songs, as well as the influence they have had, but I don't really know why people like "Wild Horses", "Satisfaction", or "Sympathy for the Devil" so much. Why can you listen to those songs over and over again?

A: They were very talented musically, although I must say that overplayed songs like the ones you listed did fill their catalog, and were not exactly my RS faves.

What is the best studio/compilation album by The Rolling Stones? by Q: The Rolling Stones have a lot of hits and singles like The Beatles and I've only bought a compilation album called Jump Back and I really like songs like Brown Sugar, Mixed Emotions and Angie. But I'd like to listen more songs by them. What studio album or compilation album would you recommend to me?

A: "Hot Rocks 1964-1971" is the best overview of their classic era, and fits nicely with Jump Back. "40 Licks" spans their whole career, from 1964-2002, but leaves out a lot of the great album tracks "Hot Rocks" includes. "More Hot Rocks" is even better than "Hot Rocks". It covers the same era, but includes mostly non-singles and B-sides, and can be a revelation to someone just starting to dig deeper into the Stones.

How do I unsubscribed from Rolling Stones Magazines? by Q: First off, I NEVER subscribed to Rolling Stones and now they're sending me an email to pay for all the magazines. I apparently have an account for the subscription but when I tried to sign in without the email redirecting me the link, it said there was never a user email of that email. I can't find the costumer service number so can anyone please tell me it if they know?

A: I wouldn't respond to this or pay for it at all because they might be trying to get information from you that could be trying to get your credit card number or anything. I don't respond to emails like this.

What are your favorite songs by the Beatles, Rolling stones and Nirvana? by Rebel Against The World Q: I'm trying to start listening to other music. I'm sick and tired of lady gaga and Justin bieber, i want to listen to something that is WORTH listening. Which songs do you like by nirvana and why? Which songs do you like by the Beatles and why? (i like come together and no reply) Which songs do you like by the rolling stones and why? Thank you!

A: Beatles: "Eleanor Rigby" is a classic by them. It is mostly a McCartney composition, the violins in Eleanor Rigby is what makes it my personal favorite song by the Beatles. It is off of their 1966 "Revolver" album, which I recommend beyond a doubt. "A Day in the Life" from the Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album, "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Your Mother Should Know" from Magical Mystery Tour, and "Something", "Because", & the Abbey Road Medley from Abbey Road are also worth looking into. Nirvana: Of course, "Smells Like Teen Spirit". It doesn't get more grunge than that. The Nevermind album is, out of their 3 albums, the best. "Come as You Are" and "In Bloom" are highly recommended, as well as their cover of Velvet Underground's "Venus in Furs". Rolling Stones: "Satisfaction", to be very honest, is a great song by the Stones, but is far too overrated by many. I would choose "Paint It, Black", "Ruby Tuesday", and "Under My Thumb" as great songs to get turned on to the Stones. Personally, my fave songs by them are "She's A Rainbow", "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?", and "Sympathy For The Devil". Hope this helps!

Would you rather be rolling in dough or the newest member of the Rolling Stones? by TOUCH MY PIGTAILS AND DIE! Q: As the newest member of the Rolling Stones, you would only be starting out at minimum wage. Since you will be playing the air guitar, you can't really argue about the wage.

A: Hmmm...what kind of dough? I mean, the edible kind? Maybe with some chocolate chips in it?

What do you think of the YOU IDIOTS issues of ROLLING STONES about global warming? by whirlingmerc Q: Bold red letters on a black background. Effective or mere venting under the guise of claimed good journalism? Investigative distorting? Did Jesus not say people who call their brothers fools are in danger of eternal warming? Has the prestigious scientific journal THE ROLLING STONES ever been right about a scientific controvery before or are they blowing hot air out of their hats?

A: They are blowing hot air out of their hats.

how are the rolling stones and the beatles similar? by zertilus Q: I am doing a project in school on the beatles, i one of my topics is to compare, i chose the rolling stones, so can someone tell me some things for it? thanks!

A: They were both HUGELY overrated. The difference is that the Stones were a rock band where the Beatles were a pop band. Another difference is that the Beatles could sing where Mick couldn't. But the fact that they are both overrated is the only similarity.

How much would a cover of Michael Jackson of Rolling stones from 1983 is worth? by mishaboo=) Q: I have a vintage Rolling stones magazine from 1983 with Michael Jackson on the cover and I want opinions on how much it should be worth before I post it on Ebay.

A: Depends on the condition of the magazine. I saw an 1984 Rolling Stone mag with MJ on the cover with a starting bid of about $7 if I recall. They just aren't that rare.

Where to find beatles and rolling stones stuff? by Q: I need to get my friends gifts and I need help on where to find beatles and rolling stones shirts, accessories, bracelets, posters, keepsakes etc. any ideas?

When will the justin bieber rolling stones poster come out? by helpxxmexxnow Q: I've seen those big posters from the cover of rolling stones magazine. I saw the one of taylor swift and jonas brothers and I really want the jb one cuz its super hot but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know if or when its going to finally come out? How long did it take for the other ones to come out?

A: Are you sure that Justin Bieber poster isn't in that Rolling Stones magazine? Try looking at Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, Macys, Sears, JC Pennys and check online if you like at www.eBay.com, www.amazon.com. Stuff like that.

What are your Sympathy for the Devil by the Rolling Stones interpretations? by Q: Do you know what the Rolling Stones intended the song to mean? What is your own interpretation of the song. Does anyone else find it incredibly thought provocking?

A: I think its a story of the devil being around at these terrible times in history, since the time of jesus christ, and it tells about his evil deeds. its actually a really well written song, in that it has a very distinct theme. Please allow me to introduce myself I'm a man of wealth and taste I've been around for a long, long year Stole many a man's soul and faith it pokes at how the devil is inside mankind itself: I shouted out "Who killed the Kennedys?" When after all It was you and me here it is clear that he is indeed the devil: Just as every cop is a criminal And all the sinners saints As heads is tails Just call me Lucifer 'Cause I'm in need of some restraint also it shows how the has set out to just rule over anything else, gods, kings, queens: I watched with glee While your kings and queens Fought for ten decades For the Gods they made Throughout the song when it says "hope you guessed my name, but what's puzzling you is the nature of my game" is just summarzing how humans look at the devil, and just tend to see or not see his ways. hope this helps :)

How much is an original Rolling Stones tour shirt worth? by Q: So i have a T-shirt that my mum gave to me and she got it at the 1981 Rolling Stones world tour. She told me that it is worth alot of money but i was wondering how much it is actually worth? Thanks.

A: Depending on the condition and what a collector would be willing to pay, not likely much over if over fifty dollars, after that it's pushing it. If it was signed then that would definitely increase the value, considerably, seventy five dollars, and up. But even then the signature would need to be authenticated, by someone qualified to do that. More often than not, with things like that, the person that owns it over values it.There are a lot of people that put things like that away thinking someday it will be wroth a small fortune only to end up seriously disappointed when they are told otherwise.

What song have both the Beatles and the Rolling Stones performed? by Artemis Q: My friend likes giving me little puzzles/riddles to figure out. Today's thing included a picture of the Beatles (from the Ed Sullivan show) and the Rolling Stones and the answer is to be found in the chorus of a song that they supposedly both played. This last part is an assumption on my part. He also included a hint in the instructions - "Keep guessing, but you may not always find what you want." Anyone have any clue what song he may be referencing?

A: I Wanna Be Your Man Both versions are on these links!

How were the rolling stones controversial? by dominoqueen3 Q: I need to write a paper about how the rolling stones were controversial. Any websites or straight up information will be helpful. Thank you!

A: Early on, the lyrics of some of their songs were deemed too risqué for TV. When they did "Let's spend the night together" on Ed Sullivan, supposedly the TV producers told Mick to sing "Let's spend some time together". TV sound being poor as it was back then, I'm not sure anyone is clear on what he actually sang..... ...and of course Mick's dance moves on stage, although Jim Morrison took it a lot farther than the Stones ever did.

What type pf guitar do I need to play Rolling stones music? by Fabk Q: I'm looking to buy a guitar 100 - 400 swiss francs or dollars, that plays rolling stones type of music good and for a reasonable price. Also if you can recommend any online shops which ship to europe that be awsome.

A: WELL YOU CAN PLAY ROLLING STONE MUSIC WITH PRACTICALY ANY GUITAR BUT IF YOURE LOOKING FOR A VERY MUCH IDENTICAL SOUND YOU SHOULD BUY AN AMP AND EFFECT PEDALS BECAUSE THAT MATTERS MORE THAN ANYTHING AND DONT GET AN ELECTRIC GUITAR GET AND ELECTRO ACOUSTIC ONES TRUST ME THERE BETTER I SUGGEST A GIBSON,IBANEZ,OR A JOHNSON THERE ALL TOP QUALITY THE JOHNSON SEEM TO BE MORE ECONOMIC BUT ALLSO IN MY OPINION HAVE BETTER SOUND AND FOR THE AMP I SUGGEST A MARSHALL,BERINGHER,OR GIBSON AND THE EFFECTS PEDAL WELL IT DEPENDS BUT TRY GETTING ONE WITH LOTS OF MODES

What Rolling Stones record should I start off with? by Q: I've just started listening to the Rolling Stones and I'm going my local record store to pick one of their records up. Which one should I get first?

A: Get the Sticky Fingers Album

How did the Beatles and the Rolling Stones differ in their recording techniques? by Peter D Q: I watched a video of the Rolling Stones recording "Sympathy for the Devil" at Olympic Studios on YouTube. The recording session seemed very clinical and each component of the song was broken down into little bits. It seems the Beatles did a lot of ensemble recording, though I know they did isolate tracks and overdub and such but you could hear the "product" as they were recording less with the Stones. Both got good results I think just different techniques.

A: Actually, their recording techniques were extremely similar. At first, they were limited by 4-track technology, and recorded as an ensemble most of the time, with minimal overdubs. With the introduction of 8-track and 16-track recording technology, both bands switched to largely recording instruments separately, and began experimenting with overdubs and layering. Compare the Beatles and Stones' 1964 recordings, and they will sound very similar in recording ambiance. Then, fast forward to 1967, when there were more tracks to use,and again, you'll see that similarity again. In 1969, both bands took a step back, and returned to more ensemble style playing during recording. It nearly broke up the Beatles (see the "Get Back" sessions), and eventually did. The Stones had not gotten very good reviews with their 1967 recording experiments, and the return to basics in playing and recording was well received.

How come the rolling stones dont sing songs about friendship and the power of your, imagination? by The God of hate74 Q: The rolling stones have a recurring theme in there music(drugs, sex, war and the blues)but how come they dont sing about friendship and the power of your imagination?

A: Most rock bands just talk about the items you mentioned. I have wondered the same thing myself. Hearing the 900th song about drugs, fighting, etc just gets way old. It's like, how many times can you rehash the same topic? I suggest you try to find some more unique bands if you are getting tired of those topics you mentioned (not to diss the Rolling Stones). Try some nerd rap. ytcracker can provide. He raps about video games and other funny nerdly business.

Why are Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin better than The Beatles? by watashikoini Q: Rolling Stones' music is like heroin, its definitely heroin induced. Led Zeppelin's music is also heroin and crack induced for the most part. I can't explain it, but The Beatles were too "poppy" for me with their girlish songs. They didn't rock hard enough with their love songs, something Rolling Stones & Led Zeppelin did. I feel The Beatles were much more about their appearance than their actual music. Listening to Rolling Stones & Led Zeppelin resonates an energy in you, but The Beatles don't.

A: It's the blues influence. If the Beatles spent more time with Muddy Waters and less time with Mahesh Yogi, they probably would have had better tunes.

Rolling Stones? by ♥★♠♫♂♣♩K∀ŁĚⓧ♪♥♀♬♦☆ Q: What do you think about The Rolling Stones? all opinions welcome!

A: I took my 27 year old son to see the boys in Houston last December. They were absolutely as great as you could hope for. They're not babies anymore, but they have perfected their art -- truly the world's greatest rock n roll band!
