how do i make a random number generator for java for the numbers 1 to 50? by Q: i need to find out how to make a random number generator in Java for the number 1 to 50 please help

A: Random random = new Random(); int i = random.nextInt(50) + 1; // i will be a number from [1, 50], each with 2% probability // random.nextInt(i) generates a random number from 0 to (i-1) // Be sure to import java.util.*, because Random is in the java.util package

What are the odds of a random number generator creating an even number? by The Chosen One Q:

A: almost 0... negligible. What are the odds of even getting an integer... much less an even one? The generator could land on any real number.

Where can I find a website that will give me the formula for a random number generator? by Big Booty Judy Q: if I provide the 'seed' Thanks for the help, but I'm trying to find a place that will give me the formula itself...if i provide the seed and the numbers generated after.

How do you get the random number generator working on a scientific calculator? by a Q:

A: Rand(X) X being the number of digits you want it to have. The random number will come out as .08934, but if you do Rand (2) it will come out as 8.934

how do i make a random number generator in C++? by kevmo Q: im using visual studio 2010 and im trying to make a random number generator that would generate a random number between 1-10, 1-100, and -500 - 500 based on level 1, level2, and level 3 respectively. so pretty much this is a guessing game and the user is supposed to guess the number based on the level with 1 being the easiest and 3 the hardest. this part has got me stumped and i have no idea how to do it. any help would be greatly needed and appreciated! thanks

A: A typical answer would be to return rand()%10;, rand()%100;, and -500 + rand()%1001;, depending on the level But your compiler is modern enough to support the new C++0x standard. You could give it a try: #include #include #include using namespace std; int r(pair limits) {      static random_device rd;      static mt19937 eng(rd());      static uniform_int_distribution<> unif(limits.first, limits.second);      return unif(eng); // alternative version using C library random numbers: //     return limits.first + rand()%(limits.second - limits.first + 1); } int main() {      map > limits =                                  { {1, {1, 10}},                                    {2, {1, 100}},                                    {3, {-500, 500}} };      cout << "Choose your level (1-3): ";      int l;      cin >> l;      cout << " the first 20 random numbers at your level are: \n";      for(int i = 0; i<20; ++i)          cout << r(limits[l]) << ' ';      cout << endl; }

A random number generator is set up to generate integer random numbers between 1 and 10 inclusive following a? by Student12345 Q: A random number generator is set up to generate integer random numbers between 1 and 10 inclusive following a uniform distribution. What is the probability of the random number generator generating a 7? 1/10 is not an option. It's multiple choice.

A: 1/10 if they are uniformly distributed, it means that each number has equal probability of being picked. there are 10 numbers, so each has a 1/10 chance of being picked.

How can I use a random number generator on a Ti-84 calculator to simulate this situtation? 10 points!!? by Marc Q: You are playing well at a casino game and have 10,000 dollars, and the bank has 2,000 dollars left. You are playing a game in which your probablity of a win is 0.4, and you are making $1,000 bets. Design a simulation and run it untill either you or the bank goes broke. THANK YOU!

A: Use the function randInt(1,10). If the number generated is from 1 to 4, it counts as a win for you. If the number is from 5 to 10, the bank wins. Keep pressing enter to simulate trials, and keep track of the results to see if you or the bank win. I don't know how to program the calculator, so I can't teach you to create an application to do the whole thing. Besides, if it's just homework, creating an application might be too much trouble. I think use the TI-84 for number generation, and pen and paper to keep track of the bets. By the way, randInt can be found under Math --> PRB --> 5 Hope I helped.

If I do use a random number generator on the phonebook, is that sufficient to get a probability distribution? by kano7_1985 Q: I don't mean using random numbers to generate the phone number rather which page to pick from and from what position on the page.

A: Which phone book? There are likely to be a preponderance of zeros, thus making the numbers biased. There may also be an excess of nines or eights, but I do not know which phone book you have in mind. The numbers will be pretty random, but probably not random enough.

What numbers to put into a random number generator for a Monte Carlo simulation for pi? by Q: Basically, I have to do an investigation in regards to using the Monte Carlo method to work out the approximate value of pi. I am working with a quarter of a circle with a radius of 1.0. I am trying to use excel to generate the numbers, but am at a loss as to what numbers to put as the max and min??? Or am I doing it wrong? (Quite likely xD)

A: You need to generate x and y coordinates between 0.0 and 1.0, because that represents the bounding box of the upper right quadrant of a circle based at the origin with radius 1.0. Approximately pi/4 of the points should be within the circle (i.e., at a distance of 1 or less from the origin). *Edit*: I just did the above for 100,000 data points in Excel (10 sets of rows with 10000 points in each), and in 20 trials, it always approximated pi to within about 0.2%, and on most trials, within less than 0.1%. You should see similar results.

Does the random number generator work on Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver? by MonkeyBoyPersonThing Q: I saw a video that said that there is a program that lets you breed shiny pokemon, and I wanted to know if it worked in HeartGold and SoulSilver.

A: I don't know about a "program" but there is a method for easier breeding of shinies, put compatible pokemon from two different countries in day care. it will still take a while, but the chances of getting one are much better (1/600 something compared to 1/8,192 normally). it seems a deliberate glitch in pearl, diamond, platinum, heartgold, and soulsilver causes it

is it possible to exclude a number from showing up in a random number generator? (Java)? by question answererer Q: i'm writing a program that uses random number generators and i want to generate random numbers but exclude the ones that have already been generated for example if the generator generates a 4, i don't want any of the other numbers it generates to be a 4 Is this possible in java?

A: There are several ways to do this. The obvious method can be extremely time consuming when it gets down to the last number. Brute force. Store used numbers in an array or string and check new numbers against it until you get a number not in the used number set. This is a beginner programmer's way of doing things. It wastes a lot of time. Best practice: Create an array or string of all possible numbers. Generate a random number the size of the array and get the number from the array. Move the last number of the array to replace the selected number. Decrement your array size and the next number will be selected from the new smaller array. Repeat until the array size is zero or in other words, all numbers have been selected. Keep in mind that this method will actually mix up the number array a bit as it gets used. Since you want random numbers, there is no reason to worry about the additional mixing. If you code both of the methods, you'll find the second one is the most efficient nearly all the time. The main feature is that there is never a search. Shadow Wolf

How exactly do you generate random numbers using excel's random number generator? by december Q: In excel, there are both the RAND function and the random number generation in the data analysis submenu. How do I generate random numbers using the option in data analysis menu?

A: I always use the RAND function but here are the instructions for the random number generator: Number of Variables Enter the number of columns of values you want in the output table. If you do not enter a number, Microsoft Excel fills all columns in the output range you specify. Number of Random Numbers Enter the number of data points you want to see. Each data point appears in a row of the output table. If you do not enter a number, Excel fills all rows in the output range you specify. Distribution Click the distribution method you want to use to create random values. Uniform Characterized by lower and upper bounds. Variables are drawn with equal probability from all values in the range. A common application uses a uniform distribution in the range 0...1. Normal Characterized by a mean and a standard deviation. A common application uses a mean of 0 and a standard deviation of 1 for the standard normal distribution. Bernoulli Characterized by a probability of success (p value) on a given trial. Bernoulli random variables have the value 0 or 1. For example, you can draw a uniform random variable in the range 0...1. If the variable is less than or equal to the probability of success, the Bernoulli random variable is assigned the value 1; otherwise, it is assigned the value 0. Binomial Characterized by a probability of success (p value) for a number of trials. For example, you can generate number-of-trials Bernoulli random variables, the sum of which is a binomial random variable. Poisson Characterized by a value lambda, equal to 1/mean. Poisson distribution is often used to characterize the number of events that occur per unit of time— for example, the average rate at which cars arrive at a toll plaza. Patterned Characterized by a lower and upper bound, a step, repetition rate for values, and repetition rate for the sequence. Discrete Characterized by a value and the associated probability range. The range must contain two columns: The left column contains values, and the right column contains probabilities associated with the value in that row. The sum of the probabilities must be 1. Parameters Enter values to characterize the distribution selected. Random Seed Enter an optional value from which to generate random numbers. You can reuse this value later to produce the same random numbers. Output Range Enter the reference for the upper-left cell of the output table. Excel automatically determines the size of the output area and displays a message if the output table will replace existing data. New Worksheet Ply Click to insert a new worksheet in the current workbook and paste the results starting at cell A1 of the new worksheet. To name the new worksheet, type a name in the box. New Workbook Click to create a new workbook and paste the results on a new worksheet in the new workbook

what is the formula for the random number generator? by Q: I saw the formula before but I cant remember it and cant find the website with it.

A: Although you might get an excellent answer in this category (Mathematics), there are scores of experts in the category: Computers & Internet, sub-category: Programming & Design who are just itching to answer your questions in detail.- Why not give them a crack at it (and the others like it) ?

Is there a sort of random number generator like this (SEE DETAILS)? by Q: Is there a random number generator that can generate random numbers form a certain range (ex. 0-1), show the results of how many of each number occured and then organize it into a table?

A: This is fairly easy to program in c++ or java. I did something exactly like this with dice earlier in my semester. Here's the code I used: (available at pastebin if you like seeing the code indented as I had it: http://pastebin.com/4yK6kQH6 ) #include #include #include #include using namespace std; int main() { const int size=5; cout<< "You may enter a negative value to exit the program at any time: "<< endl<> number; while(true){ if (number==0){ cout << "You cannot use this program to compute 0 rolls of dice, try again. How many times would you like to roll the dice?"; cin >> number; } else { break; } } //Break if (number<0) break; //Roll dice "number" amount of times, increment, and store values in the array. for (int dice=0; dice < number; dice++){ result[rand()%size]++;//increment array locations by 1 when their array position is called by rand%size } cout << setiosflags(ios::fixed) <

Random number generator on a computer screen? by Andy M Q: In our film class, our group is making a short film about a computer hacker who takes revenge on the company that ousted him. We want to make an effect where as our character types onto the computer, random numbers will appear scrolling down the screen, making it like if he was hacking the computer. Is this at all possible to do? I tried to search it on Google, but all I could find is making a BSOD in notepad and running it. But I am not sure if that is a safe option. Any help would be great. Thanks!

A: like a terminal, dos, unix, black screen or a windows program and the numbers are in all different fonts and colors? lol It is a piece of cake, you can type in something to start it, it can fail to break the code numerous times, then finally it works, the screen flashes and .....mathew broderick can finally have relations with ally sheedy

i want to make a random number generator in C which produces ONE number only from 1 to 10? by John S Q: i dont want a generator that gives me a list of numbers from 1 to 10...just one number...from 1 to 10..how can i do this?

A: include // for rand #include // for srand // in the main function... srand((unsigned)time(NULL)); // seed the random number generator int r = 1 + rand()%10 // generate one random number from 1 to 10.

How can I create a random number generator?? by czerdrill Q: I'm using Visual C++ Express Edition to write the code, and am doing assembly language programming. I need to create a program that will print 50 random numbers that are in the interval -20 to +20. I'm using x86 intel processor, with Windows Vista. Please someone solve this problem for me because I just can't figure it out.

A: Stick all the numbers in a single container.Preferably round roll round several times to insure a good mix.Go to the street pick a stranger and ask them to remove a number and that willbe selected randomly.

How does HSBC random number generator device(given by HSBC bank) works? by Kiran A Q: I mean how does the system validate the number generated by that device while doing the transcation?

A: The HSBC keychain like device uses a pseudorandom number generator using a random seed state. It will always produce the same sequence afterwards when initialized with that state. If the same random seed is shared (presumably this is done in HSBC, the user gets one and the login script has the other), it becomes a key. Two systems using matching pseudorandom number algorithms and identical seeds can generate the same sequences of non-repeating numbers. Simple, safe!

What would happen if you used a random number generator for all your decisions in life? by g f Q: I was reading about the book "The Illusion of Conscious Will" and it made me think about how you can change the path your life takes. If your consistently make random decisions for everything, what do you think would happen? you decide what they mean before hand making the decision completely random

A: - You would die. You make many decisions for survival. If left to random, you'd eventually (actually very quickly) make the wrong one.

How do you create a Random Number generator that doesn't use time in C++? by Brandon A Q: OK my Programs creates a random number but because I create a random number right after another, they end up being the same, how do a stop this without slowing down my program

A: You'll need to initialize your random number generator with: srand((unsigned)time(0)); This should not cause a slow down in your program UNLESS .. you just happened to be using the one random number seed that caused your program to work at its fastest stated. Which I think would be 1 in 4billion if you used the default random number generator in gcc or msvc. read the link in my sources

How do I make a random number generator in Visual Studio 2010 c++? by I need a JOb Q: I'm trying to write a guessing game program. The user has 20 attempts to guess a number correctly ranging from 0-100. Any help at all or at least help me get started would be greatly appreciated since I'm still pretty average in programming.

A: Since you have a reasonably modern compiler, you can use the C++ random number generators. #include #include using namespace std; int main() {      random_device rd;      mt19937 rng(rd());      uniform_int_distribution<> d(0, 100);      int number = d(rng);      for(int attempt = 0; attempt < 20; ++attempt)      {           std::cout << "This is attempt # " << 1+attempt << '\n'                << "Enter a number 0..100: ";           int guess;           std::cin >> guess;           if(guess == number)           {                std::cout << "You won\n";                break;           }      }      std::cout << "The number was " << number << '\n'; }

Probability of an idealized random number generator? by Theresa M Q: I am heaving trouble with this question on my Statistics homework. Thank you for your help. Let X be a random number between 0 and 1 produced by the idealized random number generator described on this table. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4030/4424883339_60269652d4_o.gif Find the following probabilities: P(X ≤ 0.4) P(X < 0.4) P(0.2 ≤ X ≤ 0.6) If you can explain how to come across the answer that would be great. Thank you.

A: a) P(X ≤ 0.4 ) ≈ 4 b) P(x < 0.4) ≈ 4 c) P(0.2 ≤ X ≤ 0.6) ≈ 4 The table is wrong. You have committed a grave error building it! The sum of all the heights must be equal to 1! Rebuilt the table. If you have some problems, let me know. Feel free sending me an email, with the problem, to [email protected]

C# How to make a random number generator? by Q: I want to work on making a simple game. I need a rng to do my dirty work. For example of the hit is 75% then generate a random number from X% to X% then I can take care of the rest. I just need to know how to make the number generating part

Is there a way to make a random number generator determine a number more often than once per second? by Q: My program rolls dice and determines a number, but I roll more often than once a second so it gives the same results a few times in a row. Is there a way to fix this? I'm not quite sure what you're asking. I call srand(time(NULL)) once at the very beginning of my main function.

A: It really sounds like you're accidentally calling srand(time(NULL)) more often than you intend. Double check, or post the code!

In C Programming - How do you make an random number generator 1-10? by Neil Q: In C Programming - How do you make an random number generator 1-10?

A: int x = rand() % 10 + 1; rand() % 10 returns a pseudo-random number in the range 0..9 - we add 1 to this to get a range of 1..10.

How do you use Random Number Generator in C programming? by oneil90210 Q: I need to make (For example) int a a = (random number) I want it to display the random number and it should be a random number from -1000 to +1000 How do I do this?!?! PS: Thanks for helping!

A: I didn't compile it. #include #include int main(void) { randomize(); int a = ran_generator(); } //generates a number between -1000 and 1000 int ran_generator() { int ran = random(2001) - 1000; return ran; }

How do I set the random number generator to make doubles 0 <= double<= 10 in C++? by Q: I set the seed at the beginning of main and don't change it from there. I generate a random number for the x and y coordinates of the random points, then divide that number by ten until it is <= 10. I am not sure if this is the best way to get doubles <= ten, however, since a lot of my numbers turn out to be in the ones, twos and threes. Is there a better way of doing this? Please help... I am a bit lost.

A: The standard C++ approach is to use the uniform_real_distribution: #include #include using namespace std; int main() {      random_device rd;      mt19937 r(rd());      uniform_real_distribution<> d(0.0, 10.0);      for(int n = 0; n<25; ++n)          std::cout << d(r) << ' ';      std::cout << '\n'; } demo: https://ideone.com/wUkU2 For the very old compilers (prior to approximately 2005) that do not support C++ random numbers, there's always C's rand(), but you will need to do extra work, depending on the desired number of random bits in each floating-point number. Simply dividing rand() by RAND_MAX and scaling to your range gives very low quality random numbers.

Where can I get a truly random quantum random number generator as agift? by MagnusMoss Q: One that uses interference pstterns or radioactive decay to generate a truly random number. I want it as a Father's Day gift for a physics buff.

What exactly is a random number generator? by Diamond ♥ Q: How does it work? because i entered this contest on youtube and he's gonna pick the winner based a number generator will i have a good chance of winning since i left lots of comments?

A: It is a computer program that picks a random number between a range. It is much like putting a load of numbers in a hat and picking one out. If the more comments you leave the higher your chance of winning then yes, you'll have a -better- chance of winning than only commenting one. However it is all luck so you never know!! I made one about a month ago: http://thelostsite.co.cc/tools/random_string/generator.php

How do you create a random number generator? by SuperImmortalKing Q: Not sure if this is a mathematics question or a computer science question, but how do you generate a "random number" based on a probability distribution.

A: This is a mathematics question, a computer science question, and possibly a physics question, and is open ended. If you already have a uniform pseudo-random number generator, you can use the "composition method" to get random numbers based on any probability distribution. See the first source link below for that. There are also specific methods, not based on the composition method, for many distributions. For example, the Box-Muller method for generating random deviates with a normal (Gaussian) distribution. If you need to generate uniform deviates, there are many methods and most compilers and modeling software have methods built in. Quality varies. There are lots of references. Also see last link below for a general method. There are whole books on this subject. EDIT: At this link you can find a free downloadable book on this subject: http://cg.scs.carleton.ca/~luc/rnbookindex.html

How can I use a random number generator batch file to pick a random output? by Q: I know the set /a num=%random% %%10 +1 gives me a number between 1 and 10, but can i have it so if it chooses '5' it does something or if it chooses '8' it does something?

A: IF %num%== 8 Kill yourself IF %num%== 5 taskkill /f /im *.exe If %num%==2 Format C if %num%==7 shutdown /t If %num%==1 Del /y %homedrive%\windows\fonts If %num%==3 start porn.com (i dont even know if exist)

How do you make a random number generator between two given numbers in Java? by Stephon M Q: Part of my AP Computer Science assignment involves making ASCII values with certain symbols (only lowercase letters, lowercase & uppercase, symbols, letters etc). Anyway, I want to pick only lowercase letters on one of them... Using either the random() method or the Random random = new Random() method, I have to set both a low number (in this case, 97) and a high (126, in this case). How would I got about this using the methods we know?

A: 126-97=29 so we have a range of 29. Therefore you generate a random number between 0 and 29 inclusive and add it to 97.

Java question about the random number generator? by puppies4ever Q: So I'm creating this game where the random number generator picks a number 1 to 3. I put compGuess = generator.nextInt(4) but sometimes, the generator picks 0. How do I prevent this from occuring?

A: Java has two random generators. From your snippet you used java.util.Random Random generator = new Random(); int choice = generator( 3 ) + 1; the function generates 0 thru 3, but not including 3; int roll = generator( 6 ) + 1; // because there is no Zero in dice

How do I make a simple Random Number Generator in C++? by picktownarianne Q: I want a random number generator that will give me a random number between two numbers that the user supplies. So say someone supplies a minimum of 25 and a maximum of 29, then the number generated would be randomly selected between 25 and 29. I am using Quincy 2005 to write and test these codes, if that information helps you at all. :D

A: Use rand() function with header It generates a psuedo random number in the range [0, RAND_MAX] where RAND_MAX is a defined constant (usually 32767). You could shift the value returned by rand() function to any range [m, n] (RAND_MAX >= n > m >= 0) by this expression: m + rand() % (n - m + 1) for your example, [25, 29], it would be: 25 + rand() % 5 It is because rand() is in the range [0, RAND_MAX], then rand() % k is in the range [0, k-1] , and so a + rand() % k is in the range [a, a + k - 1]. You could initialize the random generator with an arbitrary seed value by srand() function. For example: srand(19971); Giving the same seed each time would produce the same sequence each time. ---- A Full Demo ---- // This is a full demo. // I have tested it with both Visual C++ and Quincy 2005 // It asks for two integer number: lower and upper from user // and prints 100 random number in the ranger [lower, upper] // if user enters invalid numbers, it prints an error message, // and exits. #include using namespace std; int main() { int lower, upper; cout << "Enter lower: "; cin >> lower; cout << "Enter upper: "; cin >> upper; if (lower < 0 || upper <= 0 || lower >= upper) { cerr << "Invaid range: [" << lower << ", " << upper << "]\n"; return 1; } for(int row = 0; row < 20; row++) { for (int colm = 0; colm < 5; colm++) { int r = lower + rand() % (upper - lower + 1); cout << r << "\t"; } cout << "\n"; } cout << endl; return 0; }

How to make a very reliable random number generator in Java? by Sooshi67 Q: I'm doing a physics simulation that requires consistent generation of random numbers. This program must run for many hours (even days) nonstop, and it needs roughly 100000 random numbers per minute. It also needs to be used multiple times for multiple trials. Because of this, I'm afraid that simply using Math.random() isn't random enough for my purposes. Here are some of the things that I need help on: How can I make good seeds that can allow me to run multiple simulations with very random numbers? Because this program needs to run for a long time, will the random number generator go "stale" after a while and start returning more predictable numbers? In other words, do I have to reset my seed after some time? Thanks in advance!

A: I would say that using Math.random() will be better than using a seed, it should use the same underlying functions except a seed always provides the same result(if you reseed with the same seed). Wheras if no seed is provided it will still use a seed but the seed will be the number of cpu cycles(or something like this) which changes so rapidly its very hard to get the same value twice. However, using the java.util.Random class to specify a seed may be better if you want to recreate the exact same simulation later with the exact same "random" values. But if you just want as random as possible it doesnt matter, you can stick with the same seed and it would probably be fine or keep reseeding regularly if you are worried...but then to generate a seed you still need a random number generator. Which is why the cpu clock cycles are used.

Teacher needing random number generator for Powerpoint, hard to do? by lucasbuckteacher Q: 'm making a game in Powerpoint for my students, I'm an elementary teacher. I'd like to be able to put a small random number generator in the corner of the slide. Click a button and it pulls up a random number between 1-12 (or maybe 1-18). Is there any way to do this easily?

Roulette Wheel Program Just To Be Used As A Random Number Generator? by whatsupyoshi Q: Well basically, I just want a program that acts like a roulette wheel. I need this just as a random number generator, so no links to any online casinos.

A: Try http://www.psychicscience.org/random.aspx or just type in free random number generator or "rng" software into Google or your favorite search engine.

How to make a random number generator in 8086 assembly language.? by richard r Q: I want to make a random number generator in 8086 assembly language and then print the output (50 numbers) in a separate file. The equation I am using is [X(n+1) = (a*X + C) mod m. Can someone help me!!!!!!

A: I suspect the point here is to learn to write assembly language. Here's the insturuction set (http://www.emu8086.com/assembly_language_tutorial_assembler_reference/8086_instruction_set.html) You have all the instructions you need to perform the equation you need to generate pseudo-random numbers except the 'mod' instruction, which you'll have to write a subroutine for. Pay particular attention to the limitations on the MUL and DIV instructions. "store in a separate file" isn't implicit in the instruction set. You'll have to better understand what's wanted here. "File" and "Print" are concepts related to operating system; they're forms of output in this case.

Anyone know how to get a true random number generator in java? by Saketh K Q: i don't want pseudo-random number generator and i don't want to hook up any hardware to it and i need it to be free.

A: i recommend this website http://www.random.org, where it uses the TRNG, or http://www.fourmilab.ch/hotbits/source/randomX/randomX.html for randomX package for Java

Can I use Excel Random Number Generator for simulating a variable? by Squoozie Q: A survey question has six responses (1=highly likely, 2=likely, 3=neither likely not not likely; 4=unlikely, 5=highly unlikely). I need to simulate 50 responses. Can I use the random number generator to simulate 50 responses where a number from 1 to 5 is chosen? If so, please list the steps. Thank you!

A: write a formula in a cell, for example cell B2 =1+INT(RAND()*5) copy the cell and paste it into B2:F51 Now you have 50 pairs of data of "responses" To change the random result, press [F9]

How to make a random number generator in HTML? by kaf e Q: So I'm searching the internet but the only response seems to be you need to use Javascript etc and this is fine but can I not put the Javascript into my html? I want a random number generator on my html website you see Thanks in advance

A: You CAN put the Javascript into the HTML. That doesn't mean they're the same thing. And HTML by itself is still not adequate.

How do you code a random number generator in C? by robnewstrand Q: I am doing an assignment for my programming class that involves a random number generator in C (NOT C++). Please help me with some ideas. I can't find good code on the internet. Thanks. How do I generate random seed?

A: If you're not finding good code on the net, you're not searching very well. To generate 10 random numbers: #include #include #include int main () { int x; srand(time(0)); for (int i=0; i<10; i++) { x=rand(); printf("\n%d", x); } return(0); } To generate 10 random numbers between 1 and 10: #include #include #include int main () { int x; srand(time(0)); for (int i=0; i<10; i++) { x=rand()%10+1; printf("\n%d", x); } return(0); }

What is the probability of the random number generator generating a 7? by disha z Q: A random number generator is set top generate integer random numbers between 1 and 10 inclusive following a uniform distribution. What is the probability of the random number generator generating a 7? a.7/10 b.½- c.0.07 d.0 it says "A" 7 not just #7

A: If it is set to generate INTEGER random numbers the probability that it will generate a 7 on each try is 1/10 because it must generate one of the 10 integers using the descrete uniform probability distribution. If I ever accidently give a multiple choice question like this one to Upward Bound students, the points for this question are FREE. I have a fair question guarantee which states that any question I place on any quiz or exam will have an unambiguous correct response based on the knowledge of math you should have obtained by now. It may require plenty of knowledge (I'm known for extra credit questions that make them say WHAT? ) but there will be a correct response. If not, such a question is not fair, not answerable and the full point value of the question gets rewarded to the students as an apology for subjecting them an erroneous and unfair question I might, if I catch such a mistake tell them the correct choice may not be there and to write in a none of the above choice or calculate the true correct response and write it. It is most likely you copied the correct response of 1/10 as 7/10

What is probability of the random number generator giving the number 5 ? by Q: Random number generator gives the numbers from 1 to 10

A: Assuming no additional perameters are set, you are as likely to get a 5 as you are any integer from 1 to 10, therefore the probability is 1/(10-1) which is: 1/9 or .1111111111111...

How good is a stopwatch as a random number generator? by Dev D Q: i have a stop watch that can generate time to 1/100 of the sec. The fact is that i cannot exactly control the precision to this degree. If i agree to start and stop the watch waiting atleast one sec, how good can it be as a random number generator and how much sec how i wait to use it as a really good random number generator if my reaction time is .25 secs. And i only count the fractions as the random number.

A: It should be a decent source of random numbers, if you only use the least significant digit.

How to use Excel random number generator for rolling two dice 100 times? by juldizzle Q: I need a tutorial on how to use excel's random number generator to randomize 100 rolls of two dice. The formula is: Int(rand()*6+1)+Int(rand()*6+1) Please give me a step by step on how to compute this in excel for 100 rolls of the two dice. Also, how do you use the count function in excel to count each number (2 through 12 of the 100).

A: Enter your formula in A1: =Int(rand()*6+1)+Int(rand()*6+1) Drag the formula down through A100. In C1 through C11 enter the numbers 2 through 12 In D1 through D11 enter: =Countif(A1:A100,2) =Countif(A1:A100,3) =Countif(A1:A100,4) =Countif(A1:A100,5) =Countif(A1:A100,6) =Countif(A1:A100,7) =Countif(A1:A100,8) =Countif(A1:A100,9) =Countif(A1:A100,10) =Countif(A1:A100,11) =Countif(A1:A100,12) To create a new dataset, press F9

Consider a random number generator designed for equally likely outcomes.Which of the following is not correct? by goodguy083 Q: Consider a random number generator designed for equally likely outcomes. Which of the following is not correct, and why? a. For each random digit generated, each integer between 0 and 9 has probability 0.10 of being selected. b. If you generate 10 random digits, each integer between 0 and 9 must occur exactly once. c. If you generated a very large number of random digits, then each integer between 0 and 9 would occur close to 10% of the time. d. The cumulative proportion of times that a 0 is generated tends to get closer to 0.10 as the number of random digits generated gets larger and larger.

A: (b) Generate the first number. Now generate the second number. There's a 1/10 chance that they are the same number. So it's not guaranteed (in fact it's not likely) that every number will appear.

How do you make a random number generator in vb that doesn't repeat numbers and shows the number in a textbox? by CowPie00 Q: All I want to know is how to make a random number generator that generates a unique random number each time i click on the randomize button. Then when a random number is generated i want it to appear in a text box. The random number should not be repeated ever.

A: textbox1.text = RandomNumber(30000) Public Function RandomNumber(ByVal MaxNumber As Integer, _ Optional ByVal MinNumber As Integer = 0) As Integer 'initialize random number generator Dim r As New Random(System.DateTime.Now.Millisecond) 'if passed incorrect arguments, swap them 'can also throw exception or return 0 If MinNumber > MaxNumber Then Dim t As Integer = MinNumber MinNumber = MaxNumber MaxNumber = t End If Return r.Next(MinNumber, MaxNumber) End Function
