Hong Kong Legal System: Can an executor of a will withhold the will from one of the beneficiaries? by Mao Q: I am only looking for information relevant to the Hong Kong legal system. Can an executor of a will(of deceased) withhold the will from being viewed by one of the beneficiaries? The second question is, does the executor have the legal right to withhold the inheritance from the other beneficiaries? Any information or links to government website with more information would be very helpful. I am looking for informational answers beyond: yes, no. Further explanations in regards to what the executor can/can't legally do in this type of situation would be appreciated.

A: Here are the answers to your questions: 1. No. The executor can not withhold the will from being viewed by one or all of the beneficiaries because that there is considered a crime. 2. If the deceased person wrote in a letter to the executor not to read it to certain person then that issue must be respect but one thing is for sure - you can take him to court.

Should Hong kong authority allow the Indonesian crooks to recover the misappropriated funds of 800 b US? by Dye dirt Kong Q: The 800 billion US dollars of the Bank of Indonesian,s liquidation support fund was stolen from the BHS bank by Herdra Raharadja. He was died in in 2003. This was involved and flourished under the dictatorship of Suharto. Under the Mutual legal agreement (MLA)which is to be signed between Hong Kong government and Indonesia an agreement allowing Jakarta to pursue the misapproppriated funds hidden in Hong Kong banks and financial institutions. The illegal money was initially transferred from Indonesia to Australia and then to Hong Kong. I think this hidden fund should be confiscated and donate to the charity for the needies in this world. Hong Kong government should not put their hands into this fund and not allow the Indonesian to recover it. What is your point of view, elaborate. Should Hong Kong authority allow the Indonesian crooks to recover the 800 million US dollars stolen from the DHS bank of the Indoesian support funds for liquidation is the correct question and discription in detail.

A: Yes let the Indonesian government have the funds, it's their money. It's similar to the Philippines' government's case to retrieve the embezzled funds taken by the Marco's family, some countries like the Swiss returned a couple of hundred million to the Philippine people.

How has Hong Kong changed since it became a crown colony? by Asdf; Q: In other words, what impact did British imperialists have on Hong Kong? What did Britain do to help Hong Kong industrialize and modernize?

A: The nicest is help setting up a fair level playing field for all so that everybody could contribute his/her best to achieve to the top, survival for the fittest, hence avoiding all undertable deals and special priveleged relationships.

Why the Hong Kong enforcement personnel are so bad? Is it because of Hong Kong is a damned sin city? by Dye dirt Kong Q: It happened a few days ago that Hong Kong policemen were accused for the claimed sex services without paying the hookers or the pimps. To day's headlines (in Oriental Daily news, Chinese edition) accused the policemen of the Hong Kong motor vehicle branch extored cash from drivers by staging crashes by ramming the their car into the vehicle from the rear. They conned almost HK $ 26,000 by this conspiracy defraud. They had made 19 man-made accidents by crashing into12 taxis, one small van, and six sedans. These man-made accidents were begin in June 1, 2005 to February 2006. What a city of Hong Kong it is? They threatened the drivers for cash compensation and all of the victims paid the cashes for avoiding the troubles. I personal opinion that Hong Kong civil servants are soiled for extra high paying salaries, least work, highest pension fund in this world. The sinful Hong Kong chief executive raised his alredy overpaid salary by HK $ 430k per month, four times as Bill Clinton made.

A: Corruption is a problem that is hardly limited to Hong Kong. That's not to say that corruption in HK is anything less than troubling - it's just a recognition that it is an issue in many cities and many countries.

What Hong Kong authority should do with 2000 citizens rang the personal emergency bells in past two days? by Fred Y Q: Hong Kong is notoriusly known as the most polluted city in this world. In the past two days the roadside pollution index is recorded as high 150 and 140 respectively. As many as close to 2,000 Hong Kong senior citizens rang their personal emergency bells for emergengcy and about one hundred needed hospitalization for treatment. Many of Hong Kong side and back streets are parked with different kinds of vehicles and many of them are in idling engines. The two fossil power generating stations in Hong Kong combined with the pollution blow from Pearl Delta of China making many citizens sick and died in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong government keep on saying for years to improve the air quality and yet the publics find Hong Kong is getting more polluted each day.Just in the past two days many citizens were line up in the hospitals for emergency services and a few reported dead, too. I think Hong Kong government must amend new laws to prohibit idling engines, over-heighted skyscrapers etc. I think that the Hong Kong government must put some efforts in the areas of reducing the heights of average skycrapers, gaps must leave between buildings in big estates for ventilation, ban the diesel fuels for cars, and put pressure against the two power generating stations using fossil fuel-make them to pay for a big fine. Environmental concerned matter such as plant more trees in the road sides, construct more parks in the city cores and new territory, stop land sales to property developers for huge money for paying the top government officials and all Hong Kong civil servants of all are overpaid and underworked.

A: Aggressive actions against those idling their engines and skyrocketting buildings must be made by the government to keep Hongkong a better place to live in and stay. Pollution must be solved especially with the increasing people in Hongkong destined to suffer from governmental neglect.

Getting a visa for Shanghai in Hong Kong. How long will it take and how difficult? by Christine F Q: We are New Zealanders who are planning a trip to Shanghai in early Nov. We have 6 days booked in Hong Kong. We don't want to purchase air tickets for Shanghai until we get to Hong Kong as not sure when or how long we want to go for. To get a visa before we leave home we need to show return tickets for China. How easy is it to get a visa in Hong Kong and where would we get it. We are staying at the Grand Hyatt on Hong Kong Island.

A: http://www.ctshk.com/english/useful/chinesevisa.htm plz do ur enquiry w/ the above website....n u just need 1-day application time 4 ur visa. i mean u go there in the morning & u wil get ur visa the next day. actually most of the 5 stars hotel's concierge can do it 4 u. u dun hv to really goto the china travel svc urself. but if u do like to go, 1 of their ofc is quiet close to the Grand Hyatt. just abt 5 mins walk to the china resources bldg.....that's their visa ofc 4 all westerners. n after the Olympics, things should be back to normal. so no worry abt ur visa. if u do hv a booking in the Grand Hyatt aldy.....try to email their concierge & ask 4 details. sure they wl help u as they r 1 of the good svc hotel in HK.

How come Hong Kong vendors still set up tourist traps to rip off the tourists from mainland, China? by Dye dirt Kong Q: It has been a matter of fact that a few bad Hong Kong retailers sold fake watches and jewleries to many mailand tourists a few months ago. Many of them were pledged guilty for doing that. The Hong Kong authority said that they would monitor carefully and closely to prevent this happen again in Hong Kong. How come it happened again and again in Hong Kong? I personally think that the rental costs and overheads are too much to operate a business in Hong Kong. The second reason is that the Chinese operators are crooks and conspired with travel agency to promote the economical trip from mainland to Hong Kong then put pressure to the buy the fake products at a reasonable high price as a must policy for every tourist from China. Many of them say that they don't want to travel to Hong Kong anymore! That's good, they learned. Don't let the Hong Kong crooks to cheat your hard earned dollars in China!

A: I agree with the previous feedback from Get a Life. If HK is cheating, then look at China, for God's sake. How many fake products or poor quality things there are! And even for intangible thing like services, you paid a lot to stay in a 4-5 star hotel or an expensive restaurant, and it's just not worth it, no smile, no politeness, no manner, sometimes, not even cleaness... I hate it when you pay for sth in China, you never know if you've been cheated, and every time you have to bargain and you won't know the bottom price. Most shops have no price tag. When something is booming, like tourism, of course people take advantage of it and make money. that is just human nature. Tourists simply have to be smart. If you give the blam to HK vendors, you may as well blame the tour operations from China, putting the 'compulsory expenses' (like taking people to the theme park) or compulsory itinerary of going to the assigned jewelry shops etc. Those middlemen are making the cheeky vendors' business flourish. Another point you mentioned - 'rental costs & overheads are too much' - this is very true indeed, but look at the quality of the talents /qualifications, smartness, level of hardworking, as well as the transparent regulations, tax policy, etc in HK, and you will understand why some companies prefer to set up regional HQ in HK instead of mainland, even though they have to travel up frequently.

HONG Kong!!!!!!!!!!!!!? by janesmine_12 Q: ahmm. could u help me with this............ i have a report about TAIWAN & HONG KONG......... do u know their natural resources??? i'm from Philippines & i don't know anything about this??? like how they become rich???? BY THEIR natural resouces??? something like that......... thank u ...............

A: Taiwan has many natural resources and Hong Kong has almost none. Taiwan become rich because of its silicon (PC resembled) and Hong Kong because of its financial position. Taiwan's Hsinchu area is the key to their financial success as they assemble lots of PC and their technology is quite high during the 1960s to 1970s as they are the predecessor of China's recent success story. Hong Kong financial status at Victoria (current Central) has overpowered South East Asia and the british govt has injected lots of wealth into it but its the people who actually make Hong Kong wealthy.

HONG KONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by Mandy V Q: My family and I are going to Hong Kong on Aug. 8 what do you recommend?

A: I recommend going to The Peak. It is very beautiful up there. I went up it, and it's fun for all ages! There are some shops and gelato once you get to the top. If your family likes animals, go to Ocean Park. There you can see some panda, jellyfish, ride rides, and much more! Me and one of my friends from China went there together and it was a blast, even though it was raining. The view is beautiful. Another thing you can do is go to the Wanchai Market, or the Women's Market. Here it's like a flea market with a bunch of vendors selling a lot of different kinds of cute things. It seems to go on forever! You should also take the boat that goes across Victoria Harbour in the Star Ferry. Even though that it doesn't last long, it is an experience in itself. Plus, if you go at night, it is very beautiful. I think somewhere around Victoria Harbour is a mall and a clocktower of some sort. That mall has a really good restraunt, Dan Ryan's, where you can eat some really good steaks, if you are sick of Chinese food. I also went to the Hong Kong Space Musuem, which is just across the street from the Peninsula. It is a really nice area where kids can play around. They have a life sized space shuttle there! I hope I helped you out! Have fun in Hong Kong!

Hong Kong..? by Sara E Q: My family and I are planning to go to Hong Kong in 4 days time. What are some things to do and see and that would be interesting for my 14 year old and 9 year old daughters? Also what is the name of the airport in Hong Kong? Please suggest some interesting and fun places to go to when we are in the main Hong Kong island. Please do not suggest Disneyland as we are already planning to go there. Thank you, your help is highly appreciated.

A: I just went to HK because its my home country (aka hometown kinda). i suggest going to: (i went to) Macau- you have to take a ship ride (1hr tops) and there at the ship station you can walk to a mall (follow path). 2.8/3 is full of kids stuff! it is really fun to visit there. i loved it when i went. Ocean World aka Sea World- reallly reallly fun! there were live performances and stuff. there's also a amusement park inside. realy fun peak tram- you ride a peak tram to a really really high mall and you can see pratically half of hong kong at the very top. theres also a mcdonald and burger king. try bringing them to Kowloon and Causeway Bay. Alot of malls. fun for children to shop. :) i hope this helps
