What was the Talking Heads tune where David Byrne danced in the big suit? by CORSO Q:

A: Once in a Lifetime. Here's a SWEET mp3 of it: http://www.youngatheartchorus.com/mp3/rth_once_in.mp3

N.E. David Byrne fans out they're? by The Glorious S.O.B. Q: I'm listening 2 a song he did w/ Brian Eno called "Strange Overtones," which I got as a Song of the Day podcast from the indie rock station KEXP; I've heard it 35 times since I downloaded it. It's from his L8est CD called "Everything That Happens Will Happen Today" on Todo Mundo Records, which I think is Byrne's label. I'm lookin' 4 fans of the ex-Talking Head who also consider him a strong influence as a recording artist.

A: I love David Byrne, though I love early Talking Heads even more. Saw them in concert after Speaking in Tongues came out, and his mother was an acquaintance of mine for a couple of years. (I remember her as a wee Scottish peace activist who was sure David was in the same category at Mozart and Beethoven.) Their best stuff is '77, Fear of Music and Remain in Light. Their live double album The Name of This Band Is the Talking Heads is very fine. Hey man, you gotta learn to spell. Seriously.

Are David Byrne (Talking Heads) and Cindy Sherman (photograher/artist) a couple/dating... or 'just friends'? by insightfireiron Q: just cur...ious... okay, nosy.

A: They're just friends...

Who's bigger -- David Byrne or Morrissey? by Reality * His Third Account Q: The word "bigger" may be general, and you could define it as you wish: More sales, more influence, more talent, popularity, etc.

A: David Byrne. He's the man!

did David Byrne of the Talking Heads help create a recorded collection of Afro-Peruvian music.? by Kevin7 Q:

A: sure

david byrne song, stands in front of a house with long hair, from about 1999? by j b Q: it was an old mid-western weather board. he is in the yard and is wearing a white shirt and holding his arms out. from about 1999. he had long hair at the time. want to know the song so i can see it on youtube again. have had no luck

A: "Angels" is the only song made into a video off the 1994 David Byrne eponymous CD, and the video is rare. David Byrne's 1997 album "Feelings" is the closest timeline match. There was a single, "Wicked Little Doll", promoted featuring two members of Devo, including driving force and current Nickelodeon soundtrack standout Mark Mothersbaugh. Sorry I could not pinpoint the exact song for you, but I hope this data helps.

Why do People Call David Byrne "Pretentious"? by Rachel Q: He never struck me are stuck up or full of himself, come on, it's not like we're talking about Bono - So what gives with people saying he is pretentious all the time? Thanks Gail - I can see YOU obviously put alot of thought into that answer as well as taking the time to read AND comprehend the damn question. I asked why people thought that, not "How can I change the way people think about David Byrne?!"

A: No one can control what other people think. If some people think he's pretentious, and you don't, don't put any energy on what other people think.

Why did david byrne leave the talking heads? by yeah Q: I am deeply troubled by this because they are one of the best of all time.

A: Byrne's decision to leave the Talking Heads was partly the result of realizing that he couldn't pursue some of his musical ambitions within the context of the group. At the time, the Talking Heads had released their final studio CD, Naked, and Byrne had turned his attention toward his ever-growing interest in world-beat music. He wanted to release a Latin-flavored album, an idea that didn't fly with the three other members of the Talking Heads, guitarist Jerry Harrison, bassist Tina Weymouth and drummer Chris Frantz. "I wanted to do a Latin record, and, well, I took some of the songs to Talking Heads, but they didn't want to do them," Byrne said. "That didn't leave me too many choices." Of course there were other issues, one of which was the tension resulting from Byrne's growing prominence as the Heads' focal point during the latter stages of the band's tenure.

Why aren't David Byrne and Brian Eno touring through Seattle or Portland? by Sarah L Q: David Byrne and Brian Eno have announce a new album, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, and associated tour. However, the currently posted tour dates totally neglect the Pacific Northwest, specifically Portland and Seattle. This strikes me as quite odd, as both of these cities are moderately well known for their hip music scenes, while California is blessed with a total of five shows. How honest is their claim, "More dates to be announced soon"? Is there any investigative mechanism which would allow us to determine if this tragedy will be rectified? Who must I blackmail/intimidate/murder in order to precipitate a quick solution?

A: Just to clarify - Brian Eno will not be touring with David Byrne to promote the album. It will be a solo tour by David Byrne. Therefore, your question is redundant.;)

David Byrne's Album "Grown Backwards"? by Radoslav R Q: Does anyone know if David Byrne's Album "Grown Backwards" was ever released in vinyl?

A: not to my knowledge.

David Byrne on CSI: Las Vegas? by themarbleintheoatmeal Q: On an episode of CSI: Las Vegas (I don't know the episode name) where this magician named Zephyr makes a woman disappear and kills his son, Zephyr looks a lot like David Byrne (from Talking Heads). Is it him? I didn't see the credits

A: Tom Noonan, not David Byrne.

Are David and Gabriel Byrne brothers?? by kvnklttz Q: David Byrne was the lead singer for Talking Heads, and Gabriel Byrne was (is) in movies.

A: Well I doubt it....David is American whilst Gabriel is quite clearly Irish

Talking Heads - David Byrne ? by lovespring Q: I heard that David Byrne has a twin. Is that true? Does he have any siblings?

A: Has a sister named Celia who works as an epidemiologist.

Years ago I heard a song by David Byrne where he sang about being deranged. Anyone know it ? by Bill T. Q: It was just David Byrne (not Talking Heads). All I remember is that he was singing about being some kind of psycho. I think there was even stuff about him hurting people. The whole jest of the song was that he was just hanging on to his sanity.

A: Could it be this one? The Man Who Loved Beer Written by Donald Charles Book and Kurt Wagner To whom can I speak today The brothers they are equal But the old friends of today They have become unlovable To whom can I speak today The gentleness has perished And the violent man has come down on everyone To whom can I speak today The wrong which roams the earth There can be no end to it It is just unstoppable Death is in my sights today As when a man desires To see home after many years in jail February through December We have such a tragic year As separate as the fingers Suddenly - as one - as the hand And the violent man has come down on everyone And the violent man has come down on everyone

What songs did Brian Eno and David Byrne do together? by ashley4frogs Q:

A: They did an album together in 1981 entitled "My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts" and will release a new one, "Everything That Happens Will Happen Today" on August 14. The track-listings are as follows: My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts: America Is Waiting / Mea Culpa / Regiment / Help Me Somebody / The Jezebel Spirit / Very, Very Hungry / Moonlight In Glory / The Carrier / A Secret Life / Come With Us / Mountain Of Needles Everything That Happens Will Happen Today: Home / My Big Nurse / I Feel My Stuff / Everything That Happens / Life Is Long / The River / Strange Overtones / Wanted For Life / One Fine Day / Poor Boy / The Lighthouse Additionally, Eno also produced three albums for Byrne's old band, Talking Heads: "More Songs About Buildings And Food", "Fear Of Music", and "Remain In Light". Eno is credited as a co-writer on a number of the tracks which appear on these albums.

David Bowie or David Byrne? 1970s or 1980s? by Harry Belefonte*s Spirit Guide Q: I'm going David Byrne, early 80s. You have to add in Talking Heads with Byrne.

A: Same here. David Byrne and Talking Heads, maybe late 70s - early 80s. edit: Glad to see you, Harry! = )

Does Anyone Know The Lyrics To Paul Van Dyks' "Fall With Me (feat. David Byrne)"? by Sanderz Q: I have been trying to figure out the lyrics to the song, but it's hard to understand half of what David Byrne is saying.

A: http://www.getlyrics.com/artist/paul+van+dyk

Does anybody think David Byrne sounds like Robin Williams? by David A Q: For those who don't know who David Byrne is, he is the lead singer for talking heads, if you dont know who they are you are living in a sad sad world. Is it just me or does anybody else think he sounds a little bit like Robin Williams in certain songs? The voice part in once in a lifetime The song Wild Wild Life The song And She Was the song Psycho Killer anybody agree with me or am I just nuts? i know what david byrne looks like, but i cant help but picturing williams singing those 4 songs

A: Yes. That's a good comparison in those songs. Of course, both Byrne and Williams are men of a thousand voices, so I bet that if they got together for a while, they could probably do perfect impersonations of each other. Byrne is great, and so out there. The Sand in the Vaseline album is one of my faves.

What are your 5 favorite songs off 'My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (1981)' by Brian Eno & David Byrne? by Zappa Fan Q: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Life_in_the_Bush_of_Ghosts_(album) 'Regiment' is amazing!

A: Another album, that really deserves to be listened to, in order, from beginning to end. 1. The Jezebel Spirit 2. America Is Waiting 3. Qu'ran 4. Mountain of Needles ( a serene ending, to an extraordinary experiment in tapes & rhythms :) 5. Mea Culpa Edit -- This album was a natural progression from the previous Heads' album, "Remain in Light" The progression of -- Talking Heads: '77 (1977) More Songs About Buildtings and Food (1978) Fear of Music (1979) Remain in Light (1980) 'My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (1981) This really "ends" the Talking Heads series, imo. "Speaking in Tongues" was a fine album, but really a step "backwards" -- after this amazing series of albums - as were the follow-ups :)

How cool is David Byrne? by David Q: When he's not pushing the pop envelope (be it with the Talking Heads, with Brian Eno, or solo), he always seems to be involved in a unique, zany project. The latest: http://www.nme.com/news/david-byrne/46381 Just a fascinating man, IMO. Bonus Q: Top three Talking Heads songs? Mine: "Love → Building on Fire" "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)" "Wild Wild Life"

A: He's the Ed Begley Jr. of rock... BA: Road to nowhere, Take me to the River, Psycho Killer.

A Compilation by David Byrne? by Bones Q: I NEED to find a song on a Compilation Tape(!) by David Byrne . The song is called (or the refrain anyway) is Le Leon and the album came out some time before 1992. Anyone? OMG! Thank you. I have been looking for that song for soooo many years!

A: Try the samples on this: http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/6369132/a/Brazil+Classics+1:+Beleza+Tropical.htm I think he came out with a few Brazilian compilations though

Which Scottish football team does David Byrne of the Talking Heads support? by mogster Q:

A: i dont know

Is the song Miss America by David Byrne always at the end of every episode of Big Love? by Clare B Q:

A: No, each episode of "Big Love" has a different ending song. HBO's website tells the songs used in each episode. For example: this week's ending song was "The City of New Orleans" by Daveigh Chase. http://www.hbo.com/biglove/music/episode28.html

Ohhh, so David Byrne is Scottish. I guess that explains why the Talking Heads are so great, huh? by Guaranteed Eternal Sanctuary Man Q: No American band is that good.

A: pssshhhhhh Tom Waits is American

What do you think of David Byrne's solo career? by gouge away Q: BQ: Favorite David Byrne solo album? s k - I love that record too. Can't go wrong with Byrne and Eno.

A: generally speaking, I find it inferior to his work with the Talking Heads. favorite Byrne solo album? well ... it's not really solo, but "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts."

Does David Byrne still play Talking Heads songs in concert? by kyle m Q: I just read today that David Byrne is playing at ACL fest this year. Does anyone know if he still plays Talking Heads songs? Or, will he only play his solo career material? I know that the Talking Heads haven't played together in years, I'm just wondering if David Byrne will play some of their songs without the band.

A: I don't know, but I was watching vh1 and the talking heads had proposed to David Byrne in the past that they do a reunion tour, but he refused. So if he played some Talking Heads songs I'd be surprised. But you never know.

David Byrne---most intense eyes in the music industry? by aubrey_rawks Q: I wouldn't be surprised if he can shoot lasers out of his eyes, or is able to hypnotize people to do his bidding with them.

Who knows about this David Byrne song? by Joel Good Fella Q: He sang it accompanied by a female singer, the song is in portuguese and it talks about lucifer being a prince, I heard it in 90's. I'm not a satanist but that song was so beautiful that I've been searching for it these days. Does anybody know about this song?

A: Hi, I'm not sure this is the one you are looking for, but the only thing I found was the song 'Ave, Lucifer' by Mutantes band. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everything_Is_Possible:_The_Best_of_Os_Mutantes Everything is Possible: The Best of Os Mutantes is a best of compilation by the Brazilian tropicalia band Os Mutantes. Compiled by David Byrne of Talking Heads, it was released by his world music record label Luaka Bop in 1999. Video http://wn.com/Os_Mutantes__Ave_Lucifer http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/6835262/a/Everything+Is+Possible%3A+The+Best+Of+Os+Mutantes.htm

So why do people always say that David Byrne is a bad singer? by HANK HILL Q: It's like, wtf!!! It's so random, I don't see how he's a bad singer! I don't know what those people are used to, but Talking Heads reminds me of Devo and that is why I love them so much. And on Talking Heads videos or pages, someone always comments "The singer isn't very good" or something like that

A: Most likely because he's a little bit different, he has is own unique style and a lot of people prefer a more traditional sound. Not that this is my opinion on his voice, just a possible assumption.

What song did David Byrne perform on the colbert report? by laneigh Q: it was a couple months ago, or so

do you think david byrne (formerly of the talking heads) knowingly promotes Agenda 21? by Abby Normal REPRISE Q: . sometimes... sometimes i really *do* wish i had a lawnmower .

A: Don't leave me stranded here, I can't get used to this lifestyle. Certainly "Nothing but Flowers" doesn't seem to mark him as a conservationist, and he doesn't seem to hang about with Bono either.

What camera does the photographer David Byrne use? by Leanne Q:

A: Cindy Sherman (born January 19, 1954) is an American photographer and film director, best ... other art and then I realized I could just use a camera and put my time into an idea instead. ... Although Sherman does not consider her work feminist, many of her .... Sherman and musician David Byrne started dating in 2007.

Do you think David Byrne's creativity kicked full in with The Talking Heads or with Brian Eno? by [Memento Mori] Q: What's your favorite album by him with The Talking Heads and solo/Brian Eno?

A: All the Talking Heads albums up to and including 'Speaking In Tongues (1983)' are brilliant. Their first album 'Talking Heads '77 (1977)' is much less based on electronics than the albums that followed it - which gives their debut a kind of post-punk, raw, charm. All in all, I prefer the stuff that Brian Eno had a hand in - although I like the first album a lot too. 'My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (1981)' was a solo album that David Byrne did with Brian Eno. This album is amazing!

Was it an original from someone in the group, or perhaps a piece by David Byrne or Meredith Monk?

A: Look in AllEntretainment.com'

Do you think David Byrne should once in awhile throw a bone to his former Talking Heads? by ®eality * His New Account Q: David Byrne plays Talking Heads songs in concert, and they sound super, but do you think he should throw a bone to his former bandmates once in awhile and do a tour with them so they could live in the limelight once again and make a few bucks?

A: He said he wouldn't. Up to him I guess. I think Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz did alright with the Tom Tom Club.

David Byrne? by Icecream Q: Ok I'm a big TH fan, but I've been wanting to listen to some of Byrne's solo stuff. Do you think it's any good, and if so what albums should I check out

A: My favorite solo Byrne song is "The Great Western Road." It's from his 2003 album Lead Us Not into Temptation. My favorite solo albums by him in general are 1981's My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (with Brian Eno), 1997's Feelings, and 2004's Grown Backwards.
