A: Mr. Franklin was probably the greatest man in the Americas during his lifetime. Among the things he contributed to the Revolution were: Importing a pamphlet writer by the name of Thomas Paine to publish a provocative paper called "Common Sense". And appointing a guy named Jefferson to write the Declaration of Independence. You know, just little things. Read more in his autobiography.

How would Benjamin Franklin view the current revolutions that have been taking place in the middle east? by Big Dog Q: How would Benjamin Franklin view the role of America in the revolutions that have been taking place in the middle east? How would he view the overthrow of leaders such as Hosni Mubarak of Egypt? What else would Ben Franklin's perspective be on any contemporary issues we see today regarding revolution?

A: First and foremost, Franklin was a capitalist. He was the richest man in the colonies, and was entirely self-made. He was not as interested in the "rights of the common man" as in the rights of men to conduct business and advance themselves without hindrance from government.

Benjamin franklin? by NB GANGSTA Q: does anyone have a Benjamin franklin report they wrote and have it saved in their file and can i see it (just copy and paste it in the answer section) I need to know about him for my history class

A: I'll give you some brief facts. Franklin was born to Josiah and Abiah Folger Franklin (yes, some of her relatives went on to found the Folger coffee fortune), in Boston MA. His father was a tradesman who dealt in soap and candles. His parents had a very large family, and Ben's formal education was somewhat sketchy. Of course, he was able to read and write, and had a turn of mind that led him to educate himself through independent study. He was apprenticed to his brother James, a printer, and ran away at the age of 17, ending up in Philadelphia PA. He soon found work and eventually set up his own business as a printer. He entered into a common-law marriage with Deborah Read, a woman whose husband had gone to sea and never returned. There were two children born of this marriage, a boy named Benjamin (who died very young) and a daughter named Sally. Franklin's illegitimate son, William, was also a part of the household. Franklin busied himself with civic and intelllectual affairs in his adopted city and spent a number of years in England. He was known in scientific circles and was probably the best known colonist in the mother country. He returned to Pennsylvania and was again prominent in public affairs during the French and Indian War. Franklin supported the cause of independence, and also served as one of the American ministers to France, where he was instrumental in securing French support for the Revolution. After peace was declared, Franklin continued to be active in the affairs of the young nation, particularly the Constitutional Convention. In his eighties when he died (remember, the average life expectancy for a man in the eighteenth century was still only about 45!), it's reported that well over one thousand people attended his funeral.
