Why Does The BBC News Website Allow Only Comments On Articles They Choose? by Triptick Software Q: Maybe the answer is in the question, anything that may cause a debate that could be deemed politically incorrect seems to have the comments turned off, what are they afraid of?

A: Their house, their rules. Get over it. I'm certain that there are hundreds of thousands of sites where you can make any and all comments you want.

How would I cite a BBC News article as a source in MLA? by Anthony Q: Specifically the part about Fox being disgusted about the game. P.S. I don't agree with that, just wanted to use the source.

A: http://www.google.ca/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=hts&oq=&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLS_enCA478CA478&q=cite+a+BBC+News+article+as+a+source+in+MLA%3f

Who was the Nigerian Artist Featured on BBC World News? by TheHawkinsDog Q: I was watching BBC world news and somewhere between 9 and 10: 30 am on June 9th an artist was featured, who may have been Nigerian. In the interview he wore traditional Nigerian outfit complete with a hat. He gave a mini preview of an upcoming song some of the lyrics went like this, " we are one under the sun" and said something about an album or something called Mission 2010. Help me find him, the guy was amazing.

A: Maybe if you visit bbcworld.com you can get the information you're looking for.

What is up with the BBC News picture that keeps tagging everyone? by Audrey Q: Like it tags me. But I can't look at the photo. And I can't remove it from my tagged pictures.

Why does BBC news care more about a cabinet member quiting than a soldier being killed? by FUBAR Q: A rifleman from my regiment 2nd battalion the Rifles died yesterday, instead of having this story on the front page of the website they have the story of some cabinet member quiting, why do they care more about a silly story as opposed to a man dieing to protect us?

A: Maybe people feel that joining the army isn't about individuals, it is about putting on a uniform, for uniformity. It must be hard for someone in the army to understand how detached and far away the army seems to most of us who don't know anyone in the army. It must be so hard for people who lose someone in the army to see it overlooked in that way, but then again it is the family and friends remembering that is most important.

Is it Nigeria or Uganda that BBC news said is still doing child sacrifice to bring blessings from the gods? by Kathy Miller Q: Isn't this as archaic as our beliefs in the blood sacrifice to appease god of his anger for our sins? When will we stop believing in such terrible things, and start acting human?

A: Uganda. They actually have something called the Anti-Human Sacrifice Police Task Force. As cool as it sounds, it's depressingly ineffective.

Where can I find that BBC News night episode that is talked about in the book 'Broken' by Shy Keenan? by Becky Q: I've been reading the book 'Broken' by Shy Keenan and a BBC News Night programme was released about the case in around 2001 and I was just wondering if there was anywhere I could watch this?

Why is BBC News and UK mainstream media ignoring the Spanish protests and popular uprising? by Simon Q: Surely with the mass eviction of protesters in Plaza Caltalunya happening yesterday in Barcelona, some bright spark could have linked it in with the Champions League cup final (Manchester United vs Barcelona)! But no, we a given minimum coverage with little explanation of the key issues at hand.

A: Because the papers in their wisdom think we would far rather read about Ms.Cole being fired from a talent show in the US.! How shallow do they think the general public are?

Are there any US TV services with BBC World News? by Sebastian M Q: I'm currently living in the US and was wondering if there was a way to get the BBC World News channel? None of my local TV providers have it in their lineup.

A: You can get about an hour of BBC/US on the evening news with Matt Leher or Katty Kay. Your best bet is to get online as I do.

who was the EDL member on BBC news today? by babycakes90 Q: On the BBC news at 6 there was an English Defence League member talking to a reporter about the cancelled march. Does any one know what his name is? as I can't remember.

A: Can't remember either but it was double-barelled and stupid sounding.

How can I listen to the BBC News on my computer? by kenjacy Q: I have installed Real Player 11 on my computer but when every time I open the BBC News to listen the computer hangs and does not play . What else should I do? Or is there another program I should install. Also when I installed the BBC Radio that is always recomended on the BBC website it could not play as well.

A: Try this link http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/waystolisten/internet/#top

Who was the artist just on BBC World News? by Sebastian M Q: I tuned into the BBC World News not too long ago and they were talking about a male artist who kept garbage in three-ring binders and had approx. the last year (I think) of his life recorded (he was suffering from a heart attack but didn't want treatment). I missed the artist's name and I don't know the program, but any info would be of big help.

Why do news presenters on the BBC World news ALWAYS mispronounce the names of French Canadians? by Wickedone Q: Whenever I watch BBC World news and on the extremely rare occasion that a French Canadian is mentioned, the news presenters almost always mispronounce his/her name and give it an Anglicised pronunciation. Why? They mostly do this with NHL players when the Beeb can be bothered to talk about North American sports.

A: Because they are English lol. I've been to Quebec(I live in Ontario), and they're English was of pronouncing stuff is different from us Ontario-ans. Who in Canada watches BBC anyways? Everytime I flip the channel to BBC, they are always talking about terrorist and Asians lol.

Who was the Ethiopian woman interviewed on ABC World News Tonight/BBC News today in Beirut? by © Q: An Ethiopian woman was interviewed in Beirut in a report by the BBC reporter Gavin Hewitt. She was caught up in the violence there and because she is from Ethiopia there is no way for her to escape. Part of this report was shown on tonight's ABC World News Tonight in the USA. On this report it said she is 'a household name in Ethiopia', does anyone know who she is? Yeah emily, that's the one, she was dressed as a maid but I don't know why. The ABC report definitely said she is famous in Ethiopia.

A: I saw her tonight on ABC news. Do you mean the maid? That really hurt my heart when I saw her. I am thinking about calling the Ethiopian Embassy if there is such a thing here to try to help her.

With the new Yahoo home page, why am I getting only BBC News on my home page? by BJ Q: My home page shows BBC America news. I want American news, American newscasters, etc. How can I change that. Also I want the news to be at the top of my home page. It is currently at the bottom. How do I change that?

A: Click Add Content, and then click News and Media on the Browse Content menu. Pick the news provider of your choice, then delete the BBC News app (click the cross icon next to it) if you no longer want it.

The BBC News service is reporting that Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton may have been autistic. Thoughts? by Samian's 10th -Giuliani 2012 Q: My 14 year-old brother is autistic, so this news article sparked my attention: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/2988647.stm I personally don't think they were, and were probably more social than the autistic children I've met myself.

A: What I've heard concurs with Angels. It's that their behavior was consistent with Asperger's sydrome (a form of very high functioning autism). No reputable clinician would actually state a diagnosis for someone who is long dead. It's something consigned to the realm of fun and interesting speculation.

How can you upload photo's to the BBC NEWS place? by louiseeax Q: well anyone in the southeast of england my of seen that Deal, kent had flash floods today. Conservatives: What do you think about this BBC News analysis article on Capitalism? by Q: This is a serious question; no flame answers, please! I read this article, and thought it was incredibly deep. I'm actually printing it out so I can save it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-14764357 It's a remarkable analysis, I think, and even if you vehemently disagree with it, I still think you'd like the nature of the article... Oh, and if it's not too much trouble, could you please add a star to this question? Hopefully some of your other Conservative contacts will see it and answer too.

A: Marx was wrong because the system he came up with did not take in to account human nature. In the former USSR a janitor could make as much as a doctor. the so called each "Each according to his needs" if you will. What Marx did not account for was that most people will look at such a situation and say screw putting in the work to be a doctor if I can I can do just as well sweeping a floor. So why does capitalism work. Because with few exceptions people are self centered, arrogant and greedy. Capitalism plays on this fact. The whole notion of "keeping up with the Jones's" is the perfect classic example. The article fails to truly address this fact. Other than that it was a very interesting article. So capitalism works because of greed. Greed is not a good thing and if there is nothing to check greed than we end up in an economic crisis like we are currently in. As such the article could have made the distinction between a capitalist economy with limited regulation compared to unrestrained and unregulated capitalism which we got from decisions dating back to the 70's

Is New Zealand really going to be part of Australia, as the BBC News suggests? by Samian's 21st Account Q: Here's the article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/8612287.stm How do New Zealanders feel about being Australian?

A: How would i feel about that? I would get all my guns and shoot all the Australians. Hahahaha. It's not going to happen, no way. Never actually. We're Kiwis! Proud of heritage. An independent country from far away.

Is it true that Robert Preston is leaving BBC news? by chamberlainfan365 Q: Is it true that Business editor for BBC News Robert Preston is leaving the BBC he is leaving to work for the Gates Foundation. Or are these rumors untrue?

A: Robert Preston may leave BBC... but no one is inevitable

Do you hate the irritating background music that the BBC plays on its television news channel? by sam Q: When you try to listen to the news presenters on the BBC television news channel, there is often a background sound of "music" - well, just a loud, throbbing sound, really. This horrible, loud beat makes it difficult to hear what the news presenters are playing. What do YOU think? Do you love it or hate it? People in the UK pay an annual fee for a licence to watch BBC television, so the BBC should listen to what they say!

A: Hey Sam , email them and tell them your concerns. They are open to hearing from their viewers and want to make it better so let them know. Who knows it might change. We had the same thing here with our weather channel that had really obnoxious music . So I wrote to them and within one month there was really nice soothing music on . I don't know for sure if it was me or just a coincidence but it worked. Try it.

What's the difference between BBC News 24 and BBC World News? by Mirosui On Q: I'm really confused. They have similar programming, but they're totally different channels. Is it like CNN where one channel is for mostly news on one specific country and the other is for world news? Because they both report on world news.

A: BBC News 24 is the 24 hour news channel for the UK. BBC World News is the 24 hour news channel for worldwide consumption. A number of scheduling differences separate the two, but the outputs are otherwise similar.

Do you like this article I wrote for the BBC News website re gay rights and how it is portrayed in film? by Blue Eyed Homosexual Q: It seems that the world is finally ditching prejudice in favor of sanity: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4663322.stm posted especially for Father Figure who seems to like the idea of fishin' up thur on Brokeback ...

A: Great article Trev. Like the fact that the movie portrayed gays as real people and not a bunch of sex crazed fairies dancing around with lisps and bright colored clothes. As always your my hero Trev!!! Tim

What satellite/cable providers have the BBC World News channel? by Aliyah95 Q: I live in America, and I currently use Dish Network. They only have the BBC America channel, which only has the news early in the morning when we're too busy to watch it. I know there's a BBC channel that shows the news 24/7. Is there a provider I could switch to that has the BBC World News channel, not just BBC America?

A: There is buzz about this product in the market. Although it is of the interst for every indidual but best is available at http://www.magghu.com/go/satellitedirect . You may refer it and get the best you need.

What is the oldest story you can find on the BBC news page? by buttons Q: A sweet boredom.... The oldest I have found is from 1997, can you do better than that? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/special_report/for_christmas/_new_year/christmas_decorations/41518.stm

Who thinks BBC News should have a newspaper? by Theyoungjournalist Q: I wonder if it would be as good as the BBC News website? What are your opinions?

A: Newspapers are dying, to open a new one would be financial suicide unless there was a serious backer behind it. And seeing as the BBC is licence fee funded, it would be our money down the drain. Plus a lot of an average newspapers funding comes from advertising, and the Beeb isn't allowed to advertise, at least not in the UK.

Looking to get the BBC News Sport on my website using RSS feeds? by David Leslie Q: I am don't understand how to add bbc news feeds onto my website. Why does the BBC News graphics look so crap? by Jamie P Q: Why red and white? Why can't the BBC be more Conservative like Fox News and have great intro music like NBC. Why does the media graphics have to be so crap here? Why can't we have the Union Flag on the side of the screen like they have on Fox? Why does the BBC have to be so Socialist? If I run BBC News I would have great intro music like they have NBC Nightly News and have Red, White and Blue with the Union flag on the side of the screen.

A: If you think that is bad try Sky!!! They must surely be the most technically inept TV station in the world. Surely even third world countries can put up a headline with the correct text and photo and not get them all mixed and matched. And signs, pound signs and Dollar signs are usually all wrong. Adverts are often without sound - but I do not mind that!!! If there was a prize for technical incompetence they would win it hands down every year!!!

Why is BBC World News now available in the United States? This is disgusting? by † Laura † Q: I turned on my TV today, and to my shock, found "BBC World News" listed on the TV guide, logo and all. They already have BBC America, and that doesn't bother me as it isn't the biased BBC news 24/7, but now they've added the actual 24/7 BBC international news network. I called my service provider and was told that BBC World News has now been added to the station line up. Why is this acceptable?

A: Freedom of the press, my dear. And you do realize that the Brits are our allies?

Who was the 57 year old man on BBC news who sleeps with his passport under his pillow? by angelbaby Q: There was a man on BBC news who said he loves travelling more than his wife and he sleeps with his passport under his pillow. Does anyone know his name ?

A: Thomas Paine

Why does the BBC News site put news from the Republic of Ireland into the Northern Ireland section? by Snyder Q: Shouldn't it belong in BBC News Europe?

A: Yeah I've noticed that too. It's probably just because there hasn't been enough newsworthy happenings in NI to fill the page, so they then put the ROI stuff on.

What was the wedding dress shop featured on BBC News today? by Faith C Q: Did anyone get the name of the (non-fee) charging wedding dress shop featured on BBC News this morning (on the story about paying to try on dresses). I believe it was in Solihull/Birmingham

A: I didnt see news, but the item is on the website, you might catch it if you watch again http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7470588.stm

BBC news feature claims growth in wild deer population is leading to decline in songbirds? by Penfold Ickle Bear Innit Q: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15670818 would culling domestic and wild cats not be far more beneficial to wild birds than shooting deer?

A: That's horrendous. What it boils down to is punishing the deer for having responded well to the establishment of green corridors. Which I recall quite clearly, were established in the first place to ensure the survival of species such as wild deer. I've rarely seen a deer tearing apart a songbird. But the tabby next door to you probably has a body count in the hundreds. And I'd suggest a few property developers might have some culpability in the issue of habitat loss an' all.

How to understand BBC and CNN news on TV? by Tom Q: I am good at English, but not listening. Only on reading... So I am trying to learn more from listening skill, as I tried on CNN and BBC news daily on the TV news. So how to improve it? Are there useful skills?

A: Alot of online news stories you can listen too OR read. Try printing the read version and reading it AS you listen, like a script; also reading things out loud, that will help you associate the written with the auditory. This works especially well if you take turns reading the same book with a friend, you can listen and follow along as they read and vice versa.

I want to show a live feed to the bbc online live news internet channel from my website? by G&T Q: I want to show a live feed to the bbc live news internet channel from my website Is there a HTML that links up to BBC video news to my site, so I have a little box in my site that streams BBC news LIVE? I have other html codes which text from the BBC, but is there one for LIVE STREAM?

A: usually there is a RSS feed to link to a site from a site in your icons at top do you see Feeds(J) go to bbc live and click this and go to your site and find usually on the left a place for feeds to be shown

Why does the BBC News website feature American stories on the front page? by drgemini86 Q: My friend and I are pondering on Twitter just why the BBC News site is currently headlining with something about Obama & healthcare reforms. The BBC, after all, is British, and it is famous for reporting foreign news too... but any particular reason for an American story making the front page? Does it happen in the States, with British stories given front page status on the websites of their news outlets? By the way, I do mean stories specifically about internal affairs in the US.

A: Maybe you are just in the international version of BBC's web page. I don't see the problem w/ a story about Obama and health care on the front page (and yes I've seen it). Many major newspapers have stories from other countries on their front page. Actually here we do have stories about the UK on the 'front page'--if that's what you want to call it-- here; especially on sites like Businessweek.

Why are ALL of my bookmarks linking to different BBC news articles? by Shea Tahtinen Q: EVERY SINGLE TIME this happens. I click on a bookmark, any bookmark, and a random BBC news article comes up....what the fuck? Now I can't visit anything I bookmarked. Please help if you can.

A: You probably have a virus. Try installing Malwarebytes and see if anything comes up.

BBC News says that a pilot is in prison for praying instead of taking emergency measures during a plane crash? by Samian's Ninth Account Q: It ended up killing 16 people! Here's the news story! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7962082.stm Do you think the pilot did the right thing, by relying on his god, instead of taking emergency measures?

A: I agree with the fact that he is in prison. Prayers are fine, if action is not required of you. As the pilot, who has the primary responsibility to act, he failed to act appropriately. He is responsible for the consequences.

Thoughts on BBC News article that says European Muslims are more loyal to their countries than general public? by Samian's 10th -Giuliani 2012 Q: Here's the news article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8038398.stm I personally found that it dispelled a lot of myths that people used to have about European Muslims and how they supposedly weren't "integrating" into European societies well. Your comments?

A: Yes European Muslims are not fat
